Took Derivatives with this guy and he would re-do problems on the board like 5 times before getting it right himself. Extremely confusing to an already complex topic. Even the futures trader who sat next to me couldn't understand the guy. I don't know how this man became a graduate school professor.

Prof. Nohel is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I should mention that this class is by no stretch of imagination an easy A, its quite the opposite. But if you actually want to learn about finance, this is the class to take.

Good guy who seems like he loves to teach. You need to study a lot for his class but if you study hard enough you will do fine. He is very fair and lenient with grading. If you have a conflict with his grading you can argue your point with him for a better grade. Expect to do a lot of work.

hes a cool guy, really nice if you need help outside of class. Cases are tough but you don't need to do them perfect to get a good grade, just show some work. Tests are part essay party numerical, not to hard if you study. no need for book.

Nice professor, but there is WAYYY too much work for this class-- Loyola should consider making this class for honor students because the cases and work required are crazy!! He should consider dropping some material, or at least a case or 2. Good luck. You can pass this class, but it will take a lot of time out of your life!!

really good professor! if you want to actually learn something, def take him! absolutely NO need to buy the textbook. attendence is key. however, his grading structure is questionable...i recieved solid A's on both exams, 90% on the 3 case studies, missed only 2 classes the whole semester, but "somehow" recieved a 64 on the final, ended up w/ C+

Great class. One of the best professors I've had. Makes the material easy and knows his stuff. Very helpful. There are 3 cases-40% of grade (very hard and alot of time required) and some HW assignments. One final 40% of medium difficultly. You will learn alot in this class; no textbook. He posts everything on blackboard.

I would actually recommend him; if you come to class and take notes on his handout, you would not need anything else to ace his tests. If you want to go for the knowledge, you will get it from him, as he would also throw in his experience and todays news.

You whiny bunch of babies! Stop complaining because, for once, a professor at the university required that you actually _work_ for your grade! Dr. Nohel is one of the best Finance professors at the university! Period.

The homeworks and exam are tough (final is 40% of grade). There isn't much of a curve in this class...so be prepared! He has NO PROBLEMS giving out grades below a B. I asked for an incomplete (tution reimbursement purposes) and he would not allow it.

Very useful class. Learned a lot of interesting, practical material that can be used in real life. Prepare for a lot of work. The homeworks/cases were insane and took several hours to complete, even in a group. Then the exam, which was billed as "a lot easier" than the homeworks, was about as intense as bungee jumping.

He looks like he is straight from the 80's. That made the class somewhat entertaining. Other than that, it is so incredibly boring. It isn't that hard, but I don't feel that I learned anything new. Overall, he's a nice guy but the class is pointless.
