Tony is a knowledgeable professor with a passionate interest in all topics in the ecology field. His lectures are interesting, and they are posted online as well. The exams are kinda hard, but nothing too ridiculous. Also a lot of extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of that. Overall, solid professor.

I liked this professor a lot!! He is very passionate and it's very possible to do well in this class. Lectures are posted online and there is a lot of opportunity for extra credit. I wish he taught more undergraduate classes. Material was straightforward and interesting. This class influenced me to declare environmental studies as my major :)

Professor Ives does a good job of keeping lectures interesting. I especially loved the organism of the day. He has all his lectures online. Grades are based on the tests which are 20 ? and you go over answers right after the test and a 60 ? final. Plus there is more than a whole test worth of extra credit points so take advantage and do it early.

He's a very good professor. His lectures are interesting and always super engaging. I didn't mind the organisms of the day. I learned a lot from this class. Quizzes were really tough, not going to lie. There was options for EC.

He is an excellent professor and very knowledgable and passionate about ecology. He posts all lectures online so you don't have to go, but in class discussions are helpful. My biggest complaint is that the quizzes are set up to stump you and it's very difficult to get an A on them, so DO THE EXTRA CREDIT to bump up your grade.

Probably one of the best professors at UW. Enthusiastic about the subject and really wants people to learn. Grade is made up of 6 tests, 20 questions each except for the last one which is 60 questions, all multiple choice. There's ample extra credit too. He even uploads all the lectures so you only have to show up for tests.

Online lectures but spends the first 20 minutes talking about organism of the day and there's only one test question about one organism. Haven't learned anything in this class. The exams are poorly worded and intended to trip you up. Ridiculous testing because it is meant to trick you. Studying doesn't help. I love ecology and this class kills that

I wouldn't recommend this class to Bio (or similar) majors because it is way too easy and repetitive of other core courses. I learned about basic cell structure for the SIXTH time in college. Everything is dumbed down until he gets to the ecology part. BUT, lecture recordings are posted ONLINE and there is no homework. 6 exams, tricky.

Professor Ives is a great teacher. He makes class very interesting and enjoyable. There isn't a textbook so you have to go to lectures but they are really interesting so you'll want to go. There are 5 small tests throughout the course that are tricky multiple choice but he provides a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Fun easy bio course

Tony is one of the most interesting professors I've had at Wisco. There isn't a textbook, so going to lecture is a must, but they're so interesting you'll want to go. Quizzes are given throughout the semester and they're tricky multiple choice questions, but he compensates for it with tons of extra credit. If you need a bio credit, take this class!

Love this guy. He cares a lot about his students. Very genuine and down to earth. But be careful, when he says that this class tends to drive engineering majors nuts, he mean it. He doesn't purposely try to do that though. The class in such a way that if you cant establish a crispy biological rationale at all times, it's going to be rough.

Anthony Ives is the best professor I've had in 3 years at UW. He is the coolest. His life experiences are amazing, and he really cares about making sure his students are learning. Listening in class and reading the books are the best ways to prepare for the tests, but the class and the books are so interesting that it shouldn't be a problem.

Tony Ragnar Ives is the bomb.com. He's literally the cutest thing ever. His lectures are generally interesting however he does jump around a lot making it difficult to stay involved in the topics. Overall a great introductory course, don't let the readings and lectures slip away though, very important for the tests!!!!!

Prof. Ives is awesome. He is incredibly intellegent, and genuinely cares about his class. He makes every lecture interesting, and will answer any question at any time. Smaller lectures, little homework, easy grading. There is no textbook, so just make sure you go to lecture. This is a great class to take for a bio credit, or just for fun.

Tony is the man. I might actually switch my major to ecology just so I can hang out with him. He is so cool and the class was unbelievably easy with lots of opportunities for extra credit if need be. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this class. And there's no homework so that's a plus.

Prof Ives is one of my favorite professors. Funny guy and keeps lectures interesting and tests are fair. Optional discussion which I never attended. However, need to attend lecture to get notes because no text book relating lecture material. Lots of extra credit which makes easy to get an A. Take for bio science credit
