Comment:
Prof. Hsia is amazing! Her lectures are enjoyable and interesting, and she is clearly extremely knowledgable and passionate about the content. There is a lot of assigned reading, but honestly if you attend lecture and discussion you can get away with skimming the texts. Highly recommend a class with this professor

Comment:
Im not an auditory learner and Professor Hsias method of lecture was very difficult for me to process and learn the necessary information. She writes key words on the chalkboards, but it was still very difficult for me to remember the class material. Its not a bad class though, the material is interesting.

Prof Hsia is enthusiastic about her trade, and it shows. Lectures are pretty engaging. Textbooks aren't strictly necessary, I bought them and used them maybe 3 times. Bi-weekly quizzes in discussion can be a little difficult - you have to go to class or do the reading, but not both. Final exam is a 1500 word essay.

Solid professor that gives enjoyable lectures. If you're looking for a less-than-average difficulty class that's still very interesting then you can't go wrong here.

Prof Hisa is great! She made the quite difficult task of learning about 2000 years of science history quite easy, and I can say I learned a lot. Her lectures are great and informative. Just make sure not to doze off because you'll be totally lost when you wake up.

Comment:
Prof. Hsia is a really engaging lecturer and the class flies by. She uses the chalkboard and doesn't have slides, so it's important to go to class. But if you go to class, you'll do fine on the exams! Definitely take this class if you're looking for an easy science credit.

Professor Hsia is an amazing lecturer. I took this class to satisfy a requirement, but I ended up getting so much out of it, and a big part of that was due to Professor Hsia. I would absolutely take a class with her again, and I recommend ILS 201 for a relatively easy, low-stress science class.

Comment:
I was not a fan of the material for this course (I took it solely because it is an easier natural science credit), but Prof Hsia made a boring topic as interesting and simplified as possible! She was really passionate about the topic, which I appreciated. One thing to note is that she writes notes on the board as she goes, which can be confusing.

Prof Hsia made a boring required science class incredibly interesting. Her lectures have funny stories and she makes class worth going to. Both Hsia and the TAs love what they do and they're beyond willing to help, which makes the class easy. Read the textbooks and pay attention during lecture and you'll do great, it's not a hard class to pass.

Comment:
History of Science sounds interesting but it's actually pretty dry. Don't think I would take this class again because I got way too bored. However. Professor Hsia is a good lecturer, very organized. There are two tests that are pretty easy. The final is just a five page essay-- but going back to look for stuff in the textbook is a pain.

Professor Hsia gives amazing lectures by explaining concepts verbally with major concepts or names written on the chalkboard. She uses lots of primary examples to explain concepts. Discussions are really helpful, and if you miss lecture the notes are posted on Learn@UW before exams. Definitely one of my favorite professors.

Lectures can get really long and boring but sometimes are interesting. Other than that the class is relatively easy as long as you study and show up to discussion.

Professor Hsia is pretty great and passionate about what she teaches but the subject could be made less boring because it's pretty interesting stuff. There were two multiple choice tests, a final essay, and a bunch of stupid things in discussion. Read the super boring book and you'll be golden.

Great teacher and passionate about what she's teaching. There is a lot of content per lecture and notes are a must, even though sometimes they might be a little too much to really catch what she's saying. A lot of the lecture was reviewing the materials we were to supposed to have done prior to lecture.

Keeps lectures short, but they are a bit dull. Seemed to mostly be a review of the assigned readings. Exams are pretty easy.
