After taking both orgo I and II with him, and doing well in both classes, and then taking my Mcat...I do NOT recommend him. He is disorganized, and will not teach you some of the material on the ACS - or some material most tests like the Mcat cover! I did well because I studied on my own a lot. Save your time and take Auxie, at least she teaches

Ah...Shanbhag. This will probably be the toughest class you will ever take. Shanbhag has a great teaching style that keeps you entertained even if you hate chemistry like me. You WILL come out of this class knowing your stuff, getting an A is hard as hell. Only issue with Shanbhag is that he can be all over the place, but is a fair grader

When you come out of this class you will be spewing out organic chemistry knowledge left and right and be more than prepared for graduate exams. However getting an A in his class is really difficult, so hard that I think I might put it in my resume. However he is very fair in grading and is willing to help you whenever. AMAZING Teacher.

Professor Shanbhag is one of, if not, the best professors at Nova. It is obviosly that he cares about his students and will help anyone whenever they need it. By the time you finish his class, you will be reasy for any professional exam you need to take. Highly recommended

Oh man was this professor super hard. He is hard so you learn though, not hard to be a bad guy. If you can't handle it, you'll be out of his class within a week. He does not sympathize but wants you to learn.

Very eloquent in his explanations, but a hard tester, and a paternal teaching style.

Awesome teacher! Class is hard as hell but he helps you with every question you have. The man never opens a chemistry book and taught me the entire organic chem II. Also he gives great advice. Honestly, its harder to get a C than an A in with him once you put alot of work in. If you want to get in grad school, take this class. This guy is good!

One of, if not "THE BEST" teacher/professor/person I have ever come across. This class was hard as hell but getting that B or A or even C in the end has so rewarding. In all honesty, getting a C was harder than getting the B+ I got. This man knows his stuff and is always willing to help students even if their not in his class. Gives gr8 advice too!

He spent three years of his life tutoring a ten-year-old girl with no attention span or desire to do homework, and brought her to the point where she could qualify for the chem olympiad with ease. Anyone who'd do that is quite a guy.

He is awful for 2 weeks or so to scare students into studying. Those who can't handle him drop real fast. He then stops intimidating and the class is actually interesting. He is verrry nice if you go to him and ask for help during office hrs. He is also the fairest grader I have seen. Only need to study ur notes. The bk won't help much.

If you are at all interested in graduate/professional school, this is the man to take for General or Organic Chem. Set the alarm, get to class on time, pay attention, do the work he gives, and you will succeed. Extremely generous with his time if you seek him out, and he is almost always in his office.

He makes fun of every student and yells at us. He even told our class he does this purposely to embarrass us (to motivate..). Goin to class was like a death sentence. He teaches from all over the bk. You can really only study from the notes u take. Take another prof if u can or dont let what he says bother u and study ur notes before each class!!

With shanbhag, it's either you like him or you hate him... there really is no middle ground. He's not easy, but if you put in some effort, he's not as hard as people make him out to be. He is willing to clarify anything you want during office hours & you can go to him with any other questions or concerns you have and he's really good with guidance

"THE" outstanding professor on this campus, the person knows and holds standards, he is very caring, understanding and considerate. You just need to get to know him well. The news is, his recommendation holds the highest value in professional programs (medical, dental, pharmacy)at NSU and other Florida schools. Well connected and respected person

Horrible Professor. This man's ego is larger than his body. He has severe "Napoleon" syndrome, and makes up for his inferiority complex by making all those around him feel inferior. He uses Chemistry as a way to feel good about himself. I am a very good student and excel in all of my courses; however, I had to drop this course. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

All the other professor are capable of getting u to grad school without being so rude, senile, arrogant, and crazy. Concerning his students doing better than everyone else's, of the 25 students who take the class, only 10 or less STAY in the class. Other profs may have 1/2 people drop. Take someone else and u will learn the material just fine!

Well, he tells you cold truth about grad schools that others dare not. You want to get in Med school, pharmacy school, dental school, take him. I have taken three courses with him. Did not like him first (probably because what I heard of him). All I can say now is "he WILL get you in grad school" I feel quite prepared for med school because of him.

everyone over exaggerates about dr. shanbhag being bad. Making an A in his class is not that difficult...as long as you are focused. students who were definitely not meant for the medical field would be the ones complaining. if they can't handle dr. shanbhag, they would never handle grad school. he is a great professor and extremely helpful!

DO NOT TAKE HIM if you want to keep a good gpa. The other professors are very capable of teaching chemistry in a NORMAL manner without driving students crazy.
