Comment:
Wu-Pei Su was one of the worst experiences in my career as a college student thus far. His lectures are incomprehensible and practice is limited to MasteringPhysics, which must be tackled entirely different from the actual exams. Complains of students not participating when he has done nothing to explain a topic. Avoid at all costs

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Lectures are not prepared, lessons have nothing to do with the homework. The homework does not correspond with the tests. If you want to pass this class, read the book, do the HW ahead of time. Dont even show up to lecture because youll leave more confused. Terrible professor.

MasteringPhysics for HW, random attendance using clickers. I've taken organic chem and it doesn't compare to the difficulty of this class. Professor literally missed 3 practice problems in a row in class one time which is unreal. Insanely hard tests with little time, nothing to do with lecture. I actually feel like I got robbed by UH with this guy

He isnt the best teacher, but his tests are fairly simple. I received A's on all tests, because they were from the homework or workshop. The lectures barely reflect the tests. Go through previous tests which are also very similar. He has issues with his clicker, but make sure you do them. Not doing the clickers brought my grade to an A-.

Dr. Su was not that bad of a lecturer. His lectures were very conceptual, engaging, and had a logical sequence from start to finish. However, I felt like he was too abstract and so did not prepare us enough for the tests given by the other professors, who drilled their students with a lot more hands on practice problems.

Between watching paint dry and listen to Dr. Su, I think I would learn more from watching the paint dry. His lectures are terrible and the tests are completely irrelevant from the reviews he gives. Do yourself a favor and do NOT take him.

Nice guy but I would not recommend taking this professor. He spends so much time on talking about the concepts and that's great and all but he doesn't take the time to apply them in examples. It makes a huge difference when professors actually show examples to help students understand the bigger picture.

Refused to give us a formula sheet or practice exams ahead of time. Manged to corrupt our clicker file so we all wasted money on that. Syllabus says partial credit given on exams, but that's a lie, it's scantron. When asked to work out a problem he claimed he couldn't since he didn't have a calculator. Absolutely absurd. Exams are not conceptual!

Absolutely awful professor. He does not care about teaching his students or how they do. He rambles on the entire class too quiet for anyone to hear and nothing he says will apply to any problem that you will do. He DOES NOT do example problems so good luck figuring that out for yourself, and you will have no idea what you will be tested over.

Bad teacher, awesome person. The lectures barely reflect the tests. Go through your textbook/MasteringPhysics and do ALL the practice problems. Go through previous tests (similar). He bumps from acknowledging your efforts in his class + adds 2 questions' worth credit to each exam. The curves alone brought my B to an A-.

Don't take him, I don't want to sound rude but his class has got to be the worst I have ever taken. I passed the class, because of the homework and the curve. Avoid him unless you are want to learn by yourself.

Comment:
The course material can be difficult to grasp, so it is best to read the text prior to lectures. The tests are fairly easy... multiple choice and very little calculus. Be aware that Dr. Su can move quickly and doesn't spend a lot of time on examples. The way he lectures is often funny and inspiring, though, so always come to class.

Listen to all the feed back you see for this guy. He is a poor excuse for a professor. Talks quietly, doesn't help on the calculation part of material and does not help you with any test preparation what so ever. Take someone else. Please. He curves, but he has been know to change his mind about doing so. You will want to drop if you take this man.

I don't know what he was talking about the majority of the time. Huge curve at the end of the semester. At least 15 points. Practice the mastering physics homework problems.

Ah, I see you remember your calculus, he said once, Air is a compressible fluid, another time confusing people. Read before you get to class, but be warned he'll be two chapters ahead of another class. Form a study group, READ to understand, DO HW,and maybe the hard test in every PHYS class might be passable. Monkey and banana is funny.

He teaches the basic concepts and equations. Leaves a lot of learning up to you, which makes the class difficult at times... but if you actually read the textbook and do practice problems you'll do just fine. He also has a lab section that almost no one took advantage of... so be sure to make use of it and get some 1-on-1 help if you need it.
