Comment:
He cares about his students. His lectures completely rely on class participation so if no one participates in your class, it'll be the most boring and awkward hour of your life. He gives clear feedback for all papers and is happy to provide extensions. There is a lot of reading involved. Take note of ALL quotes he mentions in class for the midterm.

Professor Braz is very caring, well-prepared, and insightful. There were several readings for this course but the majority of them were interesting. He encourages participation and discussion. Fair marker, but needs more clarity in regards to assignment expectations. Gave topics that would be on exams too. I would definitely take his class again.

Pretty easy class, you didn't need to participate in class, but those who wish can have discussions. I skipped a lot of classes, and still got a B+, so a pretty easy class.

Prof. Braz is wonderful. His classes are discussion based, and it's essential to read the assigned texts beforehand. Read the texts quickly; sometimes discussions can cover a large passages from sections of the texts. The midterm and final have essay and written response sections. The handbook is required, though not referenced extensively.

DID NOT LIKE THIS CLASS. Worst english experience where every student received the same unhelpful criticisms. Marked down on subjective works for using a writing style that made sense to every other prof except this one. Although I'm not, If you're ESL, avoid this prof if possible. He will downgrade you more for grammar than content.

He is a great professor and really knows what he is teaching. However, I do not reccomend him to second language speakers or people who struggle in english in general. He is a super tough marker and I feel like he forgot that he is only teaching a first year english.

Unclear on the grades you receive in class, first essay I got back had a bunch of notes on it, but no mark. There are sometimes unannounced assignments in class, and random attendance checks, so make sure to go to the lectures. Read the novels Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood and The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid.

Dr. Braz's lectures were very wandering and confusing. That said, I loved all the material we read, and he was very willing to help if you attended his office hours. Speak up in class, he likes people who participate. Nice guy, even if he wasn't the best English professor I've ever had.

Braz is a great guy he really is however in his class it feels like his opinion is the only right one so, often I was afraid to speak up. But he is really helpful when you go afterclass or email him questions. Also it's quite easy to get a B if you just read the books and understand them. Not mandatory to go to class- we just discussed the texts

Although he is a very hard marker, this class is worth taking. If the class isn't very involved in discussions, it can be a little dry, but the readings are excellent. I have a new apprecation for aboriginal literature after taking this class.
