Comment:
Alfred started off his class by telling us that he considers collaboration cheating and that we could ask him for help, but he wouldn't actually answer our questions. He told us that the textbook was mandatory but then proceeded to copy his notes directly from it. If we asked a question in class he would just state what he previously had written.

Nonsensical, lazy, unhelpful. Switch out if you can, especially in honors.

Assignments are brutally hard and have absolutely nothing to do with the lecture, you'll feel completely on your own when you sit down to do them. Super nice guy but I'll never, EVER take a course with him again.

assignments were super hard. but exams were fair. his notes are difficult to follow, however he will explain them in class. He will do a lot complex mathematical proofs(seems interesting if you like math), luckily those will not be tested. overall, a good math prof.

Comment:
Notes are impossible to decipher. Assignments are beyond ridiculous. I got zero out of going to class. He talks a lot about proofs and definitions and NEITHER THOSE THINGS ARE ON THE EXAMS. If you must take linear with Alfred, make sure you live out of examples from your textbook. Exams are easy if you complete all recommended problems from text.

His assignments were difficult. He always says, "You need to wrestle with the concepts to understand the problem." But because the assignments were hard, the exams were easy, like simple textbook questions. He uses 'math' words but he'll explain them if you ask. I found his notes difficult to learn from but he explains it if you go to class.

I did not particularly enjoy the words he used to describe the math in this course. Basically, you have to work harder to get around the jargon he uses than the actual material. A nice guy, but I would avoid.

The language he uses to teach is ridiculous, I was still trying to learn the stuff we covered in the first class when we had our midterm. He likes to make exams extremely hard to "distribute the grades". I left 80% of the final exam blank and still passed the class, which probably meant that the majority of the class was in the same boat as me.

he explains things as using terminology that requires you to already understand the subject before you learn it, which if you ask me is a bit backwards (dont quote me on that though). he spends most of the class talking into his blackboard and his monotonous voice makes it tough to stay awake. any math textbook with a baboon on it=bad.

Sigh. I found this prof really confusing. Both his notes and examples really didn't make any sense, and half the time he seemed confused himself. I did find the textbook really useful, as it explained things really well. The exams were also very straight-forward.

I was disappointed in this prof. He's a nice guy but not a good teacher. After the first week a lot of the class either slept or didn't show up. He didn't explain material well and I found I had to use the textbook (which was bad). I had to work a LOT in this class. Unless you're naturally brilliant in the course I would suggest another prof.

I was very dissapointed with the manner in which the course was taught. He began the semester by stating that the textbook was ineffective, and then proceeded to follow it word by word throughout the course! He was respectful of the students, but it was apparent that they were not his priority.

Teaches at the speed of lightning. Make sure you have great multi-tasking skills. I wish his classes are more interactive. The midterm was easy, but assignments are hard!! I learnt more from Math help Ed North 751 more than learning from the lectures.

An okay prof, but he spent forever talking about limits only to rush through integrals. I didn't learn a whole lot from him.
