Meh. The class is just discussions of what we read, which I wasnt very thrilled with but she makes it interesting and doesnt force participation (but it is worth 10% of your grade). The rest is 2 in-class essays, a midterm, a final, attendance, and average of quiz grades. The quizzes are unannounced and can get specific with answers. Just read.

She doesn't teach. We would go into class and start talking about the book and then the lecture would turn into a conversation that wasn't about the book at all. She's nice and the class isn't hard to pass, but she is extremely annoying and treats her students like children. She isn't open to any feedback and her exams /quizzes are dumb.

This professor is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects that she teaches. The excitement she emits is infectious. I have taken her for ENGL 3187 and ENGL 3182 and even though they were challenging (lots of reading, pop quizzes, in class essay exams), I appreciate how they have allowed me to improve as a student and person.

Theres 4 major things she grades by: 2 tests & 2 in class essays. There are pop quizzes but if you are reading and keeping up those are easy A. Lectures were really fun but also depends if your class has people willing to participate. The first few books are harder to read but she knows this and thats why the lectures are helpful and interesting.

Don't take this professor. She doesn't teach and gives pop quizzes. I, for one, am not very fond when it comes to that sort of micromanagement. Her "lectures" are mere discussions of the book. There are two in class essays, a mid term, and a final.

Absolute favorite professor of all time and one of the best classes I've ever taken, but I totally get why she's polarizing. You have to be prepared to read a lot (A LOT) and participate even more than that. Her discussions are amazing, she's pretty much always free to talk at office hours, which you should definitely take advantage of. TOUGH/Fair.

This is not an easy class i would say, a lot of work thats involved. Many essays will be assigned. Teacher is nice and annoying at the same time. Just manage a C for essays and do decent on the finals and you will get a B-. Not that hard of a class but you can pass.

UNFAIR PROFESSOR! DO'NT HELP WHEN YOUR ARE STRUGGLING, GIVES WACK BOOKS TO READ, AND DOESN'T REALLY CARE FOR YOUR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM ALTHOUGH SHE ASKS. This class is legit a waste of classroom and a waste of a job, you can literally do this online, read a book and write about it (rather than talk) she gives random quizzes that are TOO DETAIL

Class discussions are very engaging and she is very nice as a person. But she is a very harsh grader. Even if you are the best essay writer she won't give you higher than a B-. Takes points off for the smallest things (I got five points off for having a creative title) She loves giving pop quizzes about the numerous books she assigns so watch out.

She does not explain her assignments in depth. No consistency with the work she gives out and grades people's opinions. Claims there is no need to know anything about the bible yet constantly refers to it in class. Has favorites and makes it uncomfortable for other students

Prof. Acosta is very passionate about her subjects and the class is interesting and dynamic. Open to questions and opinions, very sweet, and good book selection. Biggest pet peeve is she chooses material for exam that wasn't discussed in class. Tough grader - only 2 essays, but you have to work if want an A.

Discussion-based class, lots of readings because CompLit, no /texbook/ because you cover different novels and plays, so lots of individual books. She gives pop quizzes based on the readings, but they're fair and only check if you actually did the reading. Hard essays with specific topics, but fair grading. would take again

Lots of reading,She goes about her lectures like this: "How are you liking it?" "What have you noticed?" and basically talking about different aspects of the book. Not too much analyzing or writing. She is INCONSISTANT when it comes to the format of her papers, so watch out. If you don't talk you don't pass, also she takes forever to email you back

Extremely boring class. She talks nonstop and asks for your opinion, however if your opinion doesn't match hers, she will say it is wrong. A lot of hw, classwork, essays, and reading. Not the toughest grader but extremely irritating and slow. Avoid if possible. She makes you buy an extremely expensive textbook just because she "wrote" it.

most of the course is interpreting literature and poetry homework includes reading short stories and writing essays, mostly comparing two pieces of literature that have nothing in common except topic the more you bs on the comparison essays, the better grade you get

I took her for CORC 3102 we read 7 different books so be prepared to read. I thought I was going to hate the class but she is so passionate about the readings that it makes you want to know what excites her. There are two test and two papers you have to know characters names, books titles, and what is happening in the text, so know the material
