Worst professor I have ever had. This course was for a gen ed requirement and the work load was incredible. I don't think Gruenler knew our class had other classes to study for. There are so many other professors you should take before this one. Avoid him if you can!!!

Worst professor I have ever had. Way too much work load for a gen ed requirement. Avoid this prof if possible, there are much better profs at Hope that will do better at their job.

I took the ancient CH with him and loved that class. It was only a Gen. Ed, and did require a lot of reading (...a lot), but he magically got me really interested in Dante and I read the whole Divine Comedy cover to cover...He also lets you get creative w/ projects and is extremely helpful outside of class. It's not a blowoff GenEd, but i loved it

Interesting class, not enough lecturing too much discussion. Way too much reading for a Gen Ed though.

Easy, gets sidetracked constantly. Sometimes you can derail him if you didn't do the reading. If you pay attention in class and occasionally ask questions, he's happy.

Professor Gruenler is a very nice, but very interesting man. He is very understanding, but his classes are very easy if you participate. We are suppose to read the book, but I haven't read anything yet. Most of the discussions are open to anything related to music. He is very pro Bob Dylan, but a very nice man.

I really enjoyed him as a prof. He's obviously very passionate about what he teaches and wants his students to enjoy the material like he does. Brit Lit was a flexible and fairly easy class, and I learned a lot. Gruenler is a quirky guy, but completely genuine and fun.

Gruenler takes a real interest in his students and is nice, helpful, and quite passionate about any topic he teaches. You'll need to be prepared for a heavy reading load for any of his classes, as well as possible out-of-class participation (such as through online forums). He tends to be too lenient with late assignments--don't capitalize on this!
