Mrs. Rice cares. She cares about her subject and the students in her class. She cares that subject matter is really meaningful and that gained knowledge has a purpose. She does expect students to also be purposeful. She is great.

Comment:

Andrea is by far one of the best professors Ive had at LCC. She has great lecture material and everything on quizzes and tests are things she notably went over, there are no surprises. Shes very sweet and makes sure you understand material. I would definitely recommend her for your geology classes.

Comment:

Shes super friendly but very particular in her format and grading. I spent the entire term trying to follow her very sporadic and FAST lecture slides. She gave a paper copy outline for each quiz, which are weekly, but it helped very little. I learned more talking amongst my confused classmates during lab sessions than I did from any of her notes.

She's nice but doesn't thoroughly explain things. She flips through slides very fast and doesn't post anything online. Most of the lecture slides are just photos that she doesn't fully explained. The quizzes are more like tests and based all on memorization instead of knowledge. She also throws brand new material at you a day before the quizzes.

You will probably pass this class because of all the bonus points, but that's because the instruction is so poor no one would pass otherwise. Doesn't actually check labs, refuses to explain concepts, and dumps new material on you 5 minutes before tests. There is a test every week and you maybe get a day to review. Almost entirely rote memorization

Geology: She is very harsh when it comes to attendance and grading. Sometimes questions in labs can have many answers so make sure to ask her to clarify or you WILL get marked down. She is a harsh grader but if you show up and study the notes (which are awesome) you will do fine. Of all 3 Geology classes, her's was the hardest. STUDY YOUR NOTES!

Andrea is super nice and super helpful! You will have to show up in order to pass due to labs and quizzes but, she gives clear dates to when everything is due. She also gives a TON of extra points through extra activities that are super easy but, you'll need to attend class to get these points. I would highly recommend taking her class!

honestly she is an amazing person who is so sweet but to me and some others the class was super difficult but then again I've never taken a geology class before in my life. If you have you should be fine. The tests are pretty difficult. But the final and mid term was a presentation one on the geology of a park the other fun facts.

Andrea is the science teacher who will inspire you to give it your all! She was able to walk me through geology concepts and since, I dived into more science classes after. She deserves all of these compliments on here - she is truly a phenomenal teacher! I would recommend her beyond a shadow of doubt- and many others would, too! Andrea Rocks!

I absolutely loved having Andrea as a teacher. She was very helpful. I used to go in to work with her before quizzes to be prepared better and it helped so much. As long as you take notes, turn everything in and do the bonus activities, you'll easily pass.

Great instructor! Gneiss, slightly Tuff, and a little bit Wacke (little geology 101 joke there...). I never realized how thorough Andrea was until I took a higher level geology course with a different teacher; Andrea had already covered everything in that class in 102! Take her if you want an UNDERSTANDING of geology, not an easy A.

Andrea is WONDERFUL! She is so kind and helpful, and her accent is so pretty. Not hard to understand, and will clarify if needed (often with a laugh). I am terrible at science and Andrea helped me actually enjoy geology! Take every one of her classes if possible!

Comment:

Very nice teacher who is genuinely interested in what she is teaching. While her lectures seem to go on forever on occasion, if you pay attention you will never need to open your text. Her tests are highly based off of her in class notes. Everything she says seems to come up on the weekly quizzes. Can't miss any classes. Super sweet.

Horrible teacher for anyone with disabilities. She does not like to make accomedations for anyone unless forced. Does not give enough time for Labs in class either. Will never take another class from her again.

Up there in ranks for one of the nicest instructors at the college. Her exams were tough (probably not on purpose) bc you have to really "understand" the material as opposed to just memorizing terms or info. I never once used the text - only took notes on her powerpoint and with labs every other class, attendance is important.
