His tests are nothing like the powerpoints. You have to have a good understanding of the material in order to pass. PAY ATTENTION to what he says because some of it might be in the test but not on the ppt. Attendance isn't mandatory but people who didnt attend or didnt listen usually were the ones to fail or drop

Overall, he was an alright teacher, his tests were "similar" to the textbook and the review. You don't have to show up to class, but he did try to make it entertaining, he complains about cell phones and the elevator alot. You have to be constantly reading the textbook and do every question in detail on the review. Take him if you want a challenge.

I would not recommend taking this professor, he speaks too softly & he doesn't use current text book. Post information on blackboard & reviews; however when it comes to test time difficult to figure out where questions came from. I studied & reviewed for his class & only managed a B- & that was due to my A in Lab. (Take Alexandra Garza for Lab)

Comment:

Professor de La Pena is a great at his job although his temper changes when people are not paying attention or people are using their cellphones during class. I had a lot of fun in his class since he joked around a lot and made the class more dynamic. His tests are kind of hard but not impossible to pass if you pay attention in class.

He's a good joker. Always commenting on overwieght people and how he'll embarrase you if you take the elevater instead of the stairs..hehe. Didn't pass his fist exam though. But my fault though. He's one of those that you can pass with flying colors if you pay attention. But other than that, I think Mr. DeLaPena's hot!
