Chandler is awesome! He's so cute with how excited he is about the cities he talks about. Very interesting class and love how he's open to different points of view. Easy class with 2 tests and a LONG paper. The paper was actually pretty easy though cause you could pick w/e topic you wanted. Very nice and wants people to pass.

Interesting class. 2 exams: Midterm which was harder than expected and Final which would be easy A if you do the study questions. 1 research paper due last day.

He's kinda confusing and boring but easy at the same time. Two tests and a long paper. Gives out extra credit opportunities. Attend lecture, review powerpoint slides, read the text, and you're guaranteed to do well on the tests. The final was really easy because he gives out 90% of the questions beforehand.

Great speaker. You can tell he has done this for 30 years. Do the reading, and attend the lectures and you should be just fine.

This was a really interesting class, and professor Chandler is a great lecturer. The midterm and finals aren't extremely easy since he does focus on details, but it wasn't nearly as hard as I expected from the other reviews. Plus he gives you all the possible final questions for you to study, which helps a TON. Would recommend :)

Was fantastic. Learned a lot about San Francisco. He always let class out early, never took attendance, and his lectures were interesting and funny. The midterm was a little rough but the final was amazingly easy. 10 page term paper due at the end. Highly recommend this class and this prof.

Took both of his classes: San Francisco and Biography of a City, Paris. Interesting material and attendance isn't mandatory. Lecture slides online on his website, so review is a bit easier. The midterm is a big surprise for many b/c he asks VERY obscure questions. He gives a final pool afterward that aids in studying. Study them and do EC. Got A/B+

GPA killer! Interesting and informative class. The problem is his tests are very nitpicky and he is a hard grader. Way too much work for a Segment 3 class. There is 10 page essay that is very difficult due to lack of research material as well. Take another instructor!

Great teacher, great class, highly recommended. As long as you go to class, pay attention to the lectures, and read the books (especially the one he wrote) there is no reason not to get an "A." Midterm and final was extremely easy.

A really wonderful teacher, I didn't ever want to miss his class, but by the time the midterm came around, I was flabbergasted: the most obscure questions! Have yet to take the final or do the paper, but I have a feeling they will suck the soul out of me.

Fun class and Professor Chandler comes off as a very down to earth guy. The problem is though is no margin for error. 90% of your grade is the final and midterm and the 105 comes from a 10 page research project that is extremely hard. The research paper sounds easy until you find out getting the research is near impossible.

Professor Chandler is a really good lecturer and his powerpoints are fun. However, you need to take very precise notes and read everything assigned or else you'll do terrible on the tests. There is also a paper but it is very laid back.

I loved the class and learned a whole lot, but his tests were so hard and random that I ended up getting a D in the class. but i partly blame myself anyway.

Easy class so long as you show up, pay attention and do the reading. If not, then you could easily fail the multiple choice tests because he asks the most obscure questions. Also requires a 10pg paper, although I don't think he reads them much since he's semi-retired and has about 150+ students.

He's a great interesting teacher. Sometimes the lecture gets a little boring without a coffee, but he does a good job of presenting the material with his powerpoint. He's very enthusiastic about the subject and is very knowledgable of the city.

Ok guy, horrible teacher. Well- a great teacher but his class is so easy that he makes his tests extremely difficult in order to prevent everyone from getting an A. Let me put it this way...I am a Finance major and took 6 classes last semester. I got 5 A's and a C in this BS segment 3 class. I studied for it a lot and did extra credit.good luck

He explains his lecture like a story and everything he says no matter how boring the material he makes it better with pictures and great slides. From someone who is not as studious nor particularly entrigued by school I didnt want to miss this class for the pure fact that this teacher is ****ing awesome. Detailed tests, he posts answers online!ASK
