Comment:

Gilbert is different so if you're sensitive to crude humor, don't take his class. He's undeniably knowledgeable in the field and his views are unconventional, which makes his lectures a lot more interesting. He rambles a lot but I feel like that's typical for a grad level prof. He's accessible and very helpful. One of the best teachers I've had.

Gilbert has lost it. Seriously, he just rambles for 3 hours. The books aren't necessary. He has decent ideas, but is absolutely unable to translate them from his head to the class. The class has a lot of potential if taught by someone else. Gilbert just rambles on about eating disorders, masturbation, and student debt.

I am writing this review about Arthur Gilbert's classes, because I feel like he is unlike any other teacher I've had. Because most of my teachers have sucked. But not Arthur! He does not use PowerPoint or speak from slides. He uses his knowledge. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things history. He is the best professor I've ever had.

If you're looking for someone who will teach you from a book and help you memorize facts and dates to regurgitate, this isn't the professor for you. If you're looking to learn to think and analyze for yourself, this is a professor I recommend. I took 3 classes with him and got more out of it because I was encouraged to think for myself.

Yes he is outspoken and yes he can crack a few funny jokes, but Gilbert was by far my least favorite professor at DU. His lectures didn't teach me anything and seemed to revolve around personal stories. You'll probably get an A, but you won't learn anything useful for the real world.

Loved this professor! He's funny and outspoken and really stretches your mind. If you are easily offended or can't take joked though he may not be for you. I do recommend him though. He makes you think and process. Favorite!

One of the best teachers at DU and one of the funniest. He loves what he teaches and really wants to help students think outside of the box. Don't take his classes if you are disturbed by language, violence, sex, etc. On the other hand, maybe you should take his classes. It might open up your mind a little bit. I also took an INTS course with him.

Prof. Gilbert is truly an amazing professor, although not for everyone. He is very outspoken and opinionated, but is hilarious so it's not like he's pressing anything on you. Really brings up concepts that makes you think about the world. Overall a wonderful guy and very passionate. Recommend his classes 100%. Grades are 2-10 page papers. Take note
