Comment:

Barbara is a good teacher, but prepare to watch tons of videos. Voicethread is a pain in the butt and really not helpful. It is due weekly and requires at least three comments. The paper and book assignment is kind of fun and reflective. Put in effort, ask questions or offer input, do the assignments and you're golden.

Comment:

As a person Barb is a lot of fun, good sense of humor and easy to approach. Generally responsive to student needs. As a professor I can't recommend her too highly. Seemed to rely on class presentations to fill most of the class time, reads powerpoints for the rest, seemed kind of disinterested in teaching over presenting. We are paying a lot for???

I love her class. She is up beat. She is fast paced. She does switch topics often bit since I'm in a four hour class, I love that she switches kind of randomly. It keeps me paying attention.

She is very passionate and isn't afraid to be who she is. Although easily misunderstood by some she has a huge heart and is very knowledgable. Would definitely recommend her.

This instructor is passionate and has a wealth of knowlege and experience to share. She may digress into anecdotes, but they are relevant and meaningful. Her blend of visuals, lecture and video choices is useful and engaging. Assignments were tremendously well aligned with the learning objectives and were clearly explained and straightforward.

Offensive and hurtful. Tried to facilitate a "group therapy" style session for the entire class because two members had a misunderstanding outside of class. Caused unnecessary drama. Solicited our feedback, but never responded to it directly. I wanted to like her, but just couldn't.

I agree, when I took her years ago I was offended by things she would say during class....including things about her own sex life. I am not easily offended, but she was a little much for me.

Barbara is WILD! She's got tons of energy and really gets into her teaching. She was always respectful in my class, though sometimes she'd maybe go a little far in expressing her personal opinions. She was never offensive at all though. She's just passionate. Assignments clear; grading fair.

This prof is the reason why I am not a social work major. The movies were so horrible and boring that this class would have made a lovely nap time. I had a hard time going. The book was a better prof then she was :) RUN FOR YOUR LIFE before taking a class
