Comment:

Younis is my favorite professor at Davis. There wasn't 1 person in the class that didn't like him. He explains the material really well and his midterm and homework was very fair. Only about 3-4 hw's, 1 midterm, and 5-6 lab reports. His lectures aren't mandatory but he picks 1 random day out of the quarter to take attendance. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!

I loved this class. His lectures were really interesting and the homework & exams were very straight forward. He told us that he doesn't try to trick us on the exams, and he doesn't. It's true that he remembers late students and I did feel intimidated by him a few times, but overall he's a really great guy. He was also very helpful during OH.

Comment:

Best professor I have ever had in Davis. He is an amazing lecturer and if you actually pay attention during the lecture you don't even have to go over the textbook or anything else. He prepares you for real life projects and simply makes you a great engineer without going through all the theoretical stuff! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Comment:

Professor Younis is an amazing lecturer; however, I don't know if I could say the same about his personality. As stated in all these previous comments, he is very strict about attendance, and he will remember you if you decide to miss classes. The midterm and final seemed easy, but they were graded harshly. My friends and I had poor OH experiences.

Comment:

had him for ECI 141, ECI 146 and ENG 104. He is strict. Don't do anything stupid in class like laugh, talk or use your phone. You might even get kicked out of exam. He, however, is really really good at what he does! Get to know him personally, and he is very helpful and accommodating. Great lecturer and usually no trick questions on tests.

Lecture is straightforward and generally easy to follow, though later in the class he might leave some of the details for you to get from the textbook. Exams and homework are based off of lecture and he doesn't give "trick problems". Equations sheets are allowed on exams. He is helpful during office hours and responds promptly to email.

Crystal clear lectures. Detailed. Really cares about the subject matter. Very strict about attendance and texting etc. Does not use textbook much. Homework is helpful and midterms and finals are similar to it. I just bombed the final to end with a lower B after acing everything else. He loses temper quickly sometimes during OH, but he is goooooood!

Good lecturer. He explains very thoroughly and gives plenty of examples, but very strict about attendance and texting in class. Midterm was almost exactly like homework. Final was cumulative and fair. Go to class, do your homework and this class should be easy. Highly recommended professor.

Despite his accent his lectures are very clear. He is very knowledgeable in his material and is good at explaining it. Beware: He will give you a hard time for coming in late. I took this class in Summer though so class might have been smaller than usual.

Very helpful in office hours, finds it very rude if you come in late, tests based off homework. He let us use a sheet of notes on tests made the tests easy, and had a nice ta who graded very generously. If you attend lectures and understand the homework and how to use the equations,this class shouldn't be hard at all. HW 30%,2 midterms 30%,40%final

Comment:

As long as you go to his lectures and pay attention you probably won't need to look at the book for the whole quarter. His HW is based off his class lectures/examples and usually not bad. Tests are similar to HW but kind of lengthy. I got a C on the midterm but was able to pull an A in the end. Don't be late to his class, he'll freak out.
