If I could give this professor zero stars I would. He is rudely sarcastic in emails and does not answer questions. He grades very harsh even if you work really hard on the assignment and his instructions are never clear. From my experience, this professor does not treat his students well.

If you want to improve your reading and writing skills and have an affinity for entertainment, then Mr. Black is your guy. He isn't difficult, it's just that he does not suffer laziness and excuses. He can be moody, but he cares about the material and his students. Do the reading, go to class, ask questions, be confident(!), and heed any feedback.

I learned a lot from his class, however, papers were not graded consistently. I would make an "A" on one memo then a "C" on the next even though I followed the directions that were given. If you want to pass you will have to work hard and I suggest that you go to the writing center for help with the assignments.

Professor Black is one of the better professors I have taken at WC. More than willing to give us as much or as little feedback as we wanted before papers were due. Gives creative freedom for assignments, and if you do the work and follow his feedback, you'll get an easy cheesy A. And best of all, NOT OVERLY POLITICAL. Great prof overall.

Great professor. Do the homework and you'll make a 100 on the assignment. Don't put off the major assignments - he tells you what he expects and he does not waver from that. Gives great feedback if you ask for help. Apply yourself and you will do well!

Professor Black is by far my favorite professor at WC. Hes a tough grader but you get the grade you deserve. He helps you out in any way possible and even does a review day to look at everyones papers to show you what to fix before turning it in. The quizzes you take arent really a surprise because he goes over the material and tells you what day.

This class is not hard but is also not easy. He is by far the toughest professor I've had, but if you really want to learn take him. He does not hand you your grade, so whenever he gives you an A just know you really earned that. If there's something you don't understand definitely go talk to him. He is up-tight, but super helpful. I recommend him.

I would avoid if you are trying to earn a grade above a B. He is a very tough grader. I can honestly say the class is fairly easy, but when it comes to essays you better be able to match his skill set. He will constantly remind you of his experience in the world of literature. He is funny, but you can tell he very up tight

DON'T TAKE ONLINE. People seem to like him in person but his online class was awful. I wish I could rate clarity as -5. Seems to grade on opinions, not clear on where points were taken off. Writes in condescending tone, seems uninterested and uninformed on technical writing. If you actually need tech writing help, don't take this class.

Black is not an easy professor, but he is definitely good at what he does. Lots of reading, but it is a literature class. His style is engaging and he gets his students to put alot into it. If all you want is an easy class look elsewhere, if you want to get something out of your classes, then this is a good choice...

Professor Black is an awesome English teacher. He makes showing up to class worth it. I would recommend taking his class, but be aware that he expects college level reading (which you should have,) and really good grammar skills. He IS a difficult grader on your papers, but he respects your willingness to try. THIS IS NOT A CLASS YOU CAN BLOW OFF!

Without a doubt, one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. I look forward to attending this class and dread when the hour ends. He adds a comfort level to the class that makes you want to participate with class discussions. Just don't kiss up and complete the assignments and you should end up with a good grade. You won't regret taking him.

This class was so fun and awesome. There were quizzes every week but as long as the reading was done, easy to complete. There were only three major assignments, a midterm, critical paper, and a final. I definitely recommend this instructor for any literature or english class.

I loved this class!! It was fun while being relevent at the same time. I took a lit class... just read the books, go to class to take the quizzes, and make sure to pay attention and you should have no problems.
