Comment:

Horrible. I maintained a good grade throughout the semester, but right at the end he assigns two assignments: both worth 15%. Along with the final it ends up being 60% of your grade. Gave vague instructions and required more time than a student has! Makes it seem like you need to value his class over all others. Would Never recommend or take again.

Boone is an overall alright guy however his teaching/lectures are all over the place. I am one to take lots of notes and half my time there, I found myself not knowing what I should right down. He goes on an enormous train of irrelevant (and sometimes relevant) tangents which was frustrating because we didn't reach the objective of the unit/chapter

Dr. Boone is a horrible instructor. He gave D's to an entire class except three students who had already taken the class before. He shouldn't be allowed to teach anywhere! Now there is a whole class of freshman that had to retake the class and now are a whole year behind in music because Music 41 is a prerequisite. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Make no mistake, if you take you take a graduate course from Benjamin Boone, you'll have to work hard and know your stuff. That said, the amount of quality material I learned from this one course was exceptional. Professor Boone is brilliant, fair, and engaging. Work hard and you will learn. It's as simple as that.

Doesn't teach from the book. Makes tests on pointless things that have nothing to do with teaching k-12. Tests are extremely difficult, very vague questions. Gives directions to assignments only a few days before they are due. Says he'll give it to you on one day, but doesn't and gives it days later. Nothing taught in theory IV pertains to K-12.

Dr. Boone is a difficult person to deal with. He does not follow his own syllabus, he does not teach from the book yet tells you to read the book, his tests are extremely confusing and hard, he promotes himself, and he is very condescending.

He is brilliant and not by any means easy to keep up with. I've heard a lot of complaints by people who haven't passed his classes but they are the ones that don't attend class regularly so no coincidence there. Show up, do the homework, ask him for help if you don't get it. Just don't fall behind, the class gets harder each week.

This professor has horrible lecture skills. He is very unclear. Gives vague questions on his tests. Amount of work exceeds the lower division title. He was absent a lot of times. During class, his mannerism are awkward and uncomfortable. Needs better people skills. I HIGH RECOMMEND NO ONE TAKE THIS professor.

Amazing. Fantastic. He knows what he's talking about, works on explaining it, and keeps you updated on the work via e-mail. It's a difficult class, but with both the book and lectures (and extra help), you SHOULD pass it.

I found this teacher to be an arrogant ass. He purposefully embarassed members of the class on a regular basis. Was not encouraging and often made me feel like an idiot. Did not explain things clearly and would not slow down or clarify. Very hard to work with and learn from.

Boone's cool. He knows what he's talking about and millions of ways to explain it so that everybody understands what he's saying. His door's always open for help--for good reason, too! The subject's hard, and he can help you get through it with a fairly decent grade.

Dr. Boone is one of my favorite professors at Fresno State. He is tough, he expects a lot, but he will help just as much. He really knows his stuff and has many different ways to explain the same concept. Easily one of the best professors in our music department.

Moderately tough classes, especially at higher levels. But you're not in music because it's easy. It's worth it.
