Dr. H is a great professor. I had this class a few years ago at another college but did not get nearly as much out of it as with Hefner. He is really warm and genuine which makes all the difference.

Great teacher, funny, cares about his students and makes his campfires interesting and engaging for the students and we all participate well. Very fair and understanding. Great class....there are a few writing projects but it expands one's horizons .. would recommend.

He really knows his stuff. He has a lot of passion in anthropology Attends the chat room once a week. 3 assignments that you have to do which he gives you lots of time to do it and that?s a plus. 5 exams which is multiple choice. Then there is one big final paper at the end. Great online class to take for those who have busy schedules.

This class was interesting! My last anthropology class put me to sleep. You are required to attend campfire, it's a part of your grade. But overall the work is simple. And caution to others, don't slack on your project. Not a good idea to wait till the last minute. If you do it early enough, Hefner can give you some pointers.

i took his class online and the test are open book and ez to do. some mini projects but the main one was the field study if you don't turn it in you fail the class and GET A START ON IT, a huge pain it needs to be at least 10 pages and i barely made it.

I had alot of fun in this class and has to be one of my favorites, only if your interested in what your learning. you mostly take notes, do couple of presentations and watch like 4 movies. make sure you take good notes though because some of the stuff that he tells you may seem like nothing but itll probably be on the test.

Doesn't really teach much of Anthropology overall. He likes to talk about his ethnographic study he did in Indonesia and relates everything to that. He doesn't always provide clear instructions and is sometimes bias towards grading.

I took his online class. He's pretty easy, the only thing that really sucks about this class is the mandatory online discussion. They're interesting but they are at a set time, so make sure your schedule fits. Tests are open book, you have lots of time. Big 100 point paper due at the end, get an early start on it. Took online, so no movies as others mention. Tests were semi-hard. You do need to meet online on Sundays 7-815pm. Final Project was not easy. I'm glad I took it, but there was not much personal help. He did reply to emails. Seems like a nice guy. Take online only if you have too, you should be ok if you read the book.

This class is presented as an historic/anthropological overview of Asia. It was easy, slide presentations of his travel were interesting, but this is not anthropology to me. He skirts around issues, focusing on arts and crafts, etc. Test preparation consisted of memorizing long lists of facts, but no analysis or critical thinking required.

Online class...he;s not the best. I was able to get an A in the class, but not because of him. He was NOT helpful when I was conducting my semester-long project. Also-took over a week to respond to emails, if at all. Calls for an interactive online chat sunday nights...which goes against the nature of the flexibility of an online class. Poor choice

Mr.Hefner's lectures are fun and interesting. He is always willing to help you. You learn so much from his class. He is one of the best teachers at KCC. Definitely RECOMMENDED!

I had Mr. Hefner for two classes Anthro 200 and Asian perspectives 100. He is a very interesting teacher, really loves what he teaches. He has a great passion for Anthropology and shows that in his teachings. An excellent and super fun class take him for sure!

EXCELLENT instructor! He definitly has walked his talk! Very clear, enthusiastic, and supportive. Very nice person. I saw no favoritism. Exams are very clear and fair. I HIGHLY recommend this instructor.

very kind and helpful. knows his subject very well and always willing to help. i sometimes sense that he favors girls alittle, but maybe its b/c hes just really nice. i highly recommend him though!
