I took his class a couple quarters back for 1B. There is a lot of good reviews here stating he's an easy A. Hes definitely not an easy A for calculus. His exams were a bit challenging and his homework was chunky. If your aiming for an easy A or a high B don't take him. He was tough.

if you want to study higher math stay away from this guy. He is confused everyclass. Sometimes, he doesn't know what he was teaching or how to explain something, he would just say "that's the way it is". prepare for self-study Quiz everyclass, but not hard, tests are the same. He is the best professor I have taken at De Anza College. His lectures are amazing and he takes a quiz at the beginning of every class, covering previous class' material. He is lenient on HW and extends the due date if requested. I'd suggest you do the HW on time to better understand what happened in class. His exam reviews can easily get you A.

I agree with what everyone said below. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests, quizzes, and finals so everything is very easy! He always makes sure that everyone understands the content before moving on during his lectures and he is more than happy to answer any questions. Enroll asap as his class fills up fast! I passed with a 101%.

Want to know how desirable Charles is? The first day of the quarter, there was literally a line of 40 non waitlisted students stretching outside of the classroom trying to add his class. His class is so easy to get an A in as he offers 2 take home extra credit quizzes and 3 extra credit homework. This boosted my grade by 7 percent!

Probably one of the best Math 12 professors you will ever get! You have to go to class for the daily quizzes but you will do fine because it's literally covering the lecture the class before. Do your hw, study the lectures and you will do great for your midterms and final! He is definitely super passionate about the subject! You will do great!

Quiz every single class but that helps u to keep up with the class and be well-prepared for test. He is nice and caring, also gives lots of EC. Everything he covers on the day before test will be on the test. Nothing is tricky and just follow what he says in class. There r online hws due every week, 3 test, and 1 final. Take him his class isnt hard

We had a quiz every class, but as long as you show up and take note of the class, you are OK!! (No tricky questions) Although I dislike math, I was able to keep up with the materials. This is statis class, not mathematics! His lecture was organized and understandable. I highly recommend him. Just keep up with him and ask questions. (fall 2017)

Better out of the other calc 1b profs. He doesn't give out A+'s which is kinda annoying. Study hard for each quiz and show him that you genuinely care and you should be fine. If you want to get an A be able to do all of the homework problems well and really understand those type of problems along with the ones in the quizzes.

Calc 1B can be a difficult course, but De Vogelaere makes it very straight-forward. Short quizzes everyday, but basically just to review previous lecture. Exams don't have many surprises, he makes sure to only test on material covered in class. Very understanding & nice guy, take him!

Awesome teacher - 100% recommend! Homework is online and pretty heavy, but not too bad. Quiz every class, but prof tells you exactly what to study. Exams are straightforward but they require some memorization and go by really quickly. Textbook not necessary, just find a PDF. Overall, it's not hard to do well in Charles' class and he's a dope guy.

Charles is a real homie. If you need to take calc and he's offering, do everything to get into his class! Homework is a bit on the heavy side and there is a quiz in every class. BUT he tells you exactly what is going to be on it, same with tests and the final. Also only teaches examples out of book so studying is ez. Charles is major key!

Overall I thought that he was an amazing teacher. He was very helpful and always open to any questions. He gave short quizzes at the beginning of every class so be sure to go and get those points. If you're late, you wont be able to take them. You definitely have to study and work for an A. I recommend you take him!!!

His lectures are mostly from the book, all the examples he goes over are the examples in the book. Test every day (class was twice a week) and he always tells you what will be on the quiz. He tells you everything that will be on the test and the final. Show up, do the homework, and it should be an easy A.

De Vogelaere is an outstanding teacher. He is careful and thorough in his class examples. Also, he always tries to explain the logic behind the problems he chooses. I was most appreciative of the way he checked for student comprehension as he was speaking. His exam are fair and he helps you prepare for them prior to taking them. Highly recommended!
