Comment:
I like her reading list. Dr Colligan's assignments were exciting to do, but they needed to be completed by software which was sometimes tricky. But the technology increased my interests to do homework and explore knowledge. The lectures were relaxed. I really enjoyed taking Dr Colligan's class.

English is my least favourite subject but Colette made this an enjoyable class. The lectures were informative in that it helped facilitate discussion in tutorial, and helped with the blog/essay writing, and probably writing the final too. Lectures went at a good pace, but can be a bit dry at times due to the content itself.

Comment:
Lectures are very boring. Not necessary to attend as she often talks about information that is not examinable. Marking depends upon your TA. Make sure to keep up with readings as there are quite a few every week. Marking is very well balanced with nothing being worth more than 20%. Overall, not a difficult class.

Comment:
The class was not what it was described as it changed from the idea of being about publication and how sensitive material was published in a conservative time to a class about multimedia. Had many classes about podcasts and blogging instead of learning about the actual topic. Left the class with no new knowledge about the topic.

Colette was the best prof I've ever had at SFU. Took this 4th year class with her, and the assignments were different from the standard paper writing other classes force you to do. The amount of reading was adequate for the course we were taking, and the class interaction was superb. She was very personable and helpful.

She is okay prof. the usual. She is nice and always willing to help her students you just need to ask for it. Lectures were boring. Marks came from 1 midterm, 1 essay, journal, tutorial, and final. So well- balanced.

Colette is one of the few profs at sfu who know how to create a comfortable and trusting classroom environment. Had some of the most vibrant discussions in this course! Also, she's very up to date with literary analyses - spatial theory, digital humanities, etc. She's also helpful outside of the class! Very interested in student work!

Well! She is a nice professor in terms of her teaching skills. But honestly, I was bored during her lectures. I would not suggest Colligan because she seems to lack that student-teacher bonding thing, which is important for me to be able to approach my instructor. Too professional and uptight! Need to loosen a little.

Fell asleep in class cuz the lecture room was too warm. The topics that were discussed in class helps you think about the novels and prep for essay/final. Fair marking. Recommend this prof.

Let me just start by saying that I'm an Eng/Humanities lover so I may be a little biased but I SPECIALLY came on this website to write her a review - she is ABSOLUTELY fantastic, so very knowledgeable and I am so glad that I got to learn from someone like her. Take her class, one of the best ones ever at SFU.

She is a very nice woman; however, her classes are terrible. She fails to study any idea in depth and the ideas she chooses to look into during lecture are ridiculous...she is pulling at strings.

prof was pretentious. lectures were basically just a platform for her to show off her so-called superior intellectual prowess. assignments were unclear and marking was unfair (contrapuntal readings???) TAs were nice but did not know what they were talking about.

too much readings. DONT fall behind in this class cuz its at least 3 short stories per week. 3 5oo-word essays, one revision (1200-1500 word). easy-pie :) but the final was hard. it took me almost 3 hours - had to write 2-500 word essays and 5-250 word paragraphs. colette is VERY genuine and i will definitely take more classes taught by her!
