Got my first B, and I worked harder for this class than any other. She spends most lectures explaining how she wants presentations/papers to be structured when that time could be spent teaching. Instead, you walk out confused and spend most of your time figuring out how she wants it to be presented. No room for creativity. Over half my class failed

I seriously wanted to egg her car and throw my laptop at her face. Attendance is MANDATORY. Her grading is completely whack bc even when u follow all the req. she STILL grades u down. She doesn't let you wear shorts when presenting(again, WHACK) and her lectures are just her telling her useless life stories. Spare yourself and avoid her.

Please do not take care if you want to save your GPA. I have been doing so great in this class thinking im getting perfect scores only to find out by 8th week that I kept getting Cs from her on all of my papers. You never know what your grade is because she doesnt use Canvas and her grading criteria is awful. A lot of reading and unnecessary work

Do not take anything by her. She constantly contradicts herself on what she wants and will rip you apart if you dont anticipate what she wants. She has no clue what she saids before and then will make it up as she goes. If you hate yourself then do it but if you dont then spare yourself.

Terrible. Closed minded, judgmental, and very opinionated. Will ask for your thoughts in the subject and if its not aligned with her thinking she will tell you you are wrong and you will be in her doghouse. She is a feminist which she proudly declares and if you dont agree with her views you will have to work hard to get a C-

Professor Cole makes you do oral presentations, throughout the course based on subjects you've viewed and tells you you have to ask the audience questions without lecturing them, but she interrupts you and often goes against her original requirements. Also, the book used is online for free, but it is outdated and she frequently criticizes it.

She just "lectured" about whatever she wanted and told stories that were semi-related to the chapter assigned that week. The tests are on whatever she thought was important to know. But if you pay attention in class and skim the chapters you should do fine. If you do not like group projects/presentations, then I would not recommend this class.

Maybe she needs to go learn how to teach someone and learn some manners as well. Tests are based on what we never go on in class so make sure you have to teach yourself! Very picky on grading assignments.

Very tough on grading and it's hard to know what answers she wants to be heard. Cole is very boring and she won't lecture anything. Making myself a study group and ask classmate if they might wanna join were only thing I could keep my grades up.

This lady needs to know what she's doing cuz I honestly have nothing that Ive learned. She cancels classes whenever she wants, talks about how she feels today and test preparation needs to be done by students themselves. I regret every single moment that I go in, so never take this class!!!

Cole talks about daily news to pretend she's smart whatsoever but its hilarious that she always have slightly wrong information. Her classes are very quiet, she says she wants people to talk but she cuts you when you say something she doesnt like, so she's the only person who talks at the end. Her tests are extremely hard.

Worst teacher ever.... ended up not going to her class anymore because I felt too overwhelmed. I did try on her tests and studied hard but ended up doing worse than I thought. She's very critical and will shut down your opinions. Boring class. DON'T TAKE HER!

Under no circumstances take a class if she is teaching. If you have a different opinion from hers she doesnt want to hear it. She will cut you off before youve finished your first sentence. Its counter intuitive to how I believe history should be taught and has hurt my appreciation of art.

Tbh Cole is a tough woman, but she means well for the most part. She really just wants you to learn the subject but you're not allowed to have an opinion other than hers. She plays favorites but my suggestion is to get on her good side from the beginning. Speak up in class and read and you should pass!

Very critical but only for the best. If you follow her advice your grade will definitely go up. I was able to go from C to A quickly. She made a lot of people uncomfortable but that is the whole point of her class. She wants to make you question everything and I think this really caught people off guard especially with topics like gender and race

She definitely embarrasses you in front of everyone when your view is different. Does not respect the students. Does not give good feedback. Her point of view or there's no point. I would not recommend her to anyone. Do yourself a favor don't bother taking any of her courses unless you want to not transfer.

Comment:

Professor Cole's class consists of readings and reflections, participation, and tests. If you're a shy turtle, steer away from this class as you must speak every so often in order to receive participation points. Readings are usually a few pages and are interesting, but if you don't read then you risk not passing the class or losing points.

The course was definitely not an easy A by any stretch of the imagination, but it was extremely constructive. Some people seem to get somewhat offended by her unyielding grading, but it's only good in that it sets you up for improvement. In short, be prepared to get out of your comfort zone.

Professor Cole knows her stuff! Like the other people on here, I too felt like she was a tough grader. She expects a lot from you, but it makes you a better student because of that. Book is a must, and you need to be comfortable speaking in front of class.

Midterm is kinda tough, final is a little easier. She gives you extra credit opportunity which helps a lot! Lots of reading, but they're interesting and short. Just make sure you understand the material and you should be good.
