Comment:

She is a really great professor who is always willing to help. She is not a hard grader when it comes to the essays. Just make sure to do the readings because you will need to use it on your tests. Overall, I would definitely recommend her!

Comment:

Prof. Whittaker is very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. She tells interesting antidotes about historical figures which helped during exams. I really enjoyed her class, and no, I do not write "flawless" papers, yet still received an A.

I took History with Prof. Whittaker back in the early 90's, I'm dismayed at some of the recent comments. She was absolutely wonderful back then. Maybe it's because the internet hadn't taken off & the History Channel wasn't thought up yet. Maybe it's because @ that time Baruch was close to losing its accreditation? funny how time changes things.

Professor Whittaker has an amazing intellect. She is a very smart woman but she is also arrogant. I guess is because she knows how bright she is but that shouldn't be this way because her attitude really discourages students. She does have a bit of a dictators personality and does not like anyone to disagree with her and if you do your grade suffer

I just want to clarify that she lacks understading of people, also she believes that she is the only one who is right. Professor Whittaker is a very smart and intellectual woman. But that does not mean that she is a good professor. Yes, she knows the material but she lacks understanding. She is full of herself and thinks only she could be right. She rolls her eyes when students make comments of which she doesn't agree with. Moreover, she puts her own colleges down.

She was very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject, but as a history major I found her assignments to be mind numbing and tedious. If you mindlessly regurgitate her interpretation of the readings very accurately, you will do well but don't make the mistake of doing any critical thinking because your grade will suffer.

She is very intelillent, but in order to have an A with her is almost impossible. she wants "perfect" writting, her exams are arbitrary, you won't completed it on time and her papers are long. nothing is enough for her. I got a good grade but a friend of mine who did better got a lower grade. she deserved an A and got less. overall oavoid her.

She is amazing. One of the best professors I have ever had. Every book we read was worth it. she has a good balance of lecture and discussion and is very knowledgable about the topics. This perhaps was the best class I have taken so far at this school.

A lot of reading and writing. Tests very hard and arbitrary. I got a 77 on a test about a subject I know better than anything I've ever studied. Professor claims socialism only bad because of people like Stalin. She said socialism is democratic by definition and made statements in support of Lenin and Khrushchev.

In her class there are two groups of students , Russians and non- Russians. if you belong to the former and can speak and write "perfect" English , you won't get below A .On the other hand, you are neither Russian nor incapable of writing flawless papers,the chance to get A is almost nil.
