He's not as bad as everyone says. If you follow his examples up with questions he's very good about helping you out. He has been pretty lenient with some of my scores just because I actually come to him for help. His studio can be done quickly if you stay focused, and he's got a pretty good sense of humor once you get to know him. Great guy!

Van Domelen is proof that just because someone has a PhD, doesn't mean they should have a job. He is a jerk who gets off on making students feel stupid. I don't know of a single student who has had him and didn't think he was one of the worst teachers they have ever had.

I was unlucky enough to have him for 2 semesters. Never gave full credit on daily in-class problems, even if you have the correct answer and used the correct method. Avoid him.

The worst lab instructor I have ever had. He grades impossibly hard. He erases the explanations that the TA gave to students who asked for help. He contributes nothing to the class that a 1st year grad student couldn't. the average grade in my section was probably 10% lower than that of other sections.

He wouldn't be so bad except that he is so much ****ing harder than other lab teachers. Your lab grade is supposed to help your test grade but mine (and most people I've talked to with him) is actually hurting my grade. The biggest problem is his quizzes, so much ****ing harder than they need to be. Oh, and he hates giving points back on tests...

He really isn't a bad studio teacher. He may not be the most charming guy, but his labs run very smoothly (you can usually get out in half the time if you did your homework) and he knows what he's talking about. He is very helpful during lab although I never tried to get help outside of class.

NOT a good teacher at all - Does not grade tests...only takes the multiple choice answer. This would not be bad for a lit class but is really bad for a physics class.
