One of the best professors i have taken at Fresno State. I dreaded taking world history, but after taking his class i feel like he made history interesting and fun. He has an very dry sense of humor, but i loved it. Take him and you will not regret it

The midterm exam was all fill-in-the-blank with no word bank or anything. That was brutal considering we covered from Paleolithic Era to the Renaissance. Just too much information to retain. Tests also have map section and chronology. Seriously, read every word of the text and STUDY. Great guy though! Surprisingly funny and supremely nice person.

All he ever wanted to talk about was Greek history and culture. Very boring lectures. Just read the book before each class and take notes and you will do fine. Tests were somewhat hard; quizzes easy; papers easy; offers extra credit.

Had Berkey for three courses (hist 20, 111, 112) and got As in all three. He's easy but his exams do require reading the textbooks. He doesn't grade hard and if you manage to get to know him on a name-to-name basis then it'll be a good class. He's easy to approach and does care that everyone passes

He is very nice, but he wastes a lot of time talking on a subject without ever saying anything of worth. Our class was on Rome and Augustus, and I was extremely interested going in. By the end, I no longer cared about the subject and was happy to leave the class. He is very unclear in his lectures and on homework.

this professor sucks! he is so boring. he's lectures don't even deal with anything you read from the textbook. every week you take quizzes. all his test are extremely hard. the only way i ended up passing this class was cuz i did extra credit and the 2 essays were required to do.

He knows a lot about the material, but the actual class is terrible! Quizzes every week, you HAVE to read to do well. The tests are impossible, and lectures have absolutely no reference to what you need to know. Very nice guy but I regretted taking this class the entire semester.

Great instructor, though his syllabus is a waste of paper. He takes his time on subjects for us, but it is easy to zone out while listening to him. But he super nice and easy to appoach. And he loves what he teaches.

Dr berkey's class is extremely boring. He does not know how to stay on topic at all during his lectures, and he typically just talks about whatever he wants, whether it is relevant or not. I did all of the reading to do well on quizzes, but his lectures weren't helpful at all. My recommendation... Take this class with another teacher.

Dr. Berkey is a very nice and caring professor. He tries way too hard to make everything easy for all of his students. And, although at some times, his class may seem like a bore, it's rather interesting. I look forward to both his ancient Greek and Roman courses.

His lectures are boring but he grades pretty easily. His class isnt very structured and he lectures on things that aren't always very important to what you are learning about.

He's really knowledgable and cares a lot about the subject matter. If you show up and take good notes you should pass. He's very helpful and nice, so always ask fir help if you need it! Can have a bit of a droning voice, though.

Berkey is AMAZING!! Awesome guy! lectures are a little boring and you wont have any idea what you recieved on any test throught the year but it doesnt matter. Just write alot on the exams (mid and final) and write decent essays (2) and you cant get less than a B! Super nice guy again

Berkey is extremely smart, knowledgeable, and nice. However, his class is very unorganized and he just talks about whatever in lecture. Final class session in two days and still have no graded assignments. Very easy grade since it's just two papers/two exams. But expect random brainstorming in class, not much structure. Very helpful though.

Dr. Berkey is wonderful professor. He wants his students to do well and does everything that he can to see that his students succeed. His lectures have a tendency to be a little boring, but toward the end of the semester, he seemed to find his groove. Overall, great class!

Not the most exciting lectures, but grades very fairly on the papers and tests. You have to read the books to understand all the material, but thats expected in upper division history

This class was super easy. If you go to class, he talks about the books and then you take a quiz right after so you get full credit cause he just told you the answers. The 2 tests are easy because he uses quotes from the book and if you know what they're about you know the book and the author which is half the points. I only read 1/2, got an A.

This is the kind of class where you read a lot of books, so don't complain if you take this course. I think he was able to explain these sometimes obtuse books pretty well, but he would get frusterated by a lack of participation. Easy quizzes if you keep up with your reading/lectures, and only two real tests.
