Comment:
Orgo will be hard with any teacher you have but Crumrine is one of the best to take it with! I ended up with a B doing a good amount of work for the class, but probably could've gotten B+ A- with a little more work. Live by the book, do the practice problems, and I used a book called Organic Chem as a 2nd language, very helpful. Choose him

I'd never taken Dr. Crumrine before taking Spectroscopy as a Chem elective. I've recommended this class to so many Chemistry students as it is extremely helpful in integrating basic chem concepts. Dr. Crumrine is an excellent lecturer and is great at explaining concepts, even if it's been 3 years since Orgo. You will not regret taking this course!

I never went to class. I dont even know where the discussion class is. And now the class is over. You have to teach yourself. But his curves are huge. I mean a 20% is passing. In orgo 2 at least. And if you show him you care. your good to go. Id take him if I was you guys

Prof. Crumrine is an extremely sweet guy! He's so funny and charming, but when it comes to teaching you're pretty much on your own. There are HUGE curves depending on how bad the class does, but if you study diligently you should do alright.

I took Professor Crumrine for both semesters of Orgo and have liked him a lot. Just like any Orgo class it is hard. His lectures are not mandatory but they do have some comic relief in them. The one area that I really like about his class is the way he grades. He curves the class so that nearly everyone can get a decent grade.

Took him for Orgo 2. He does try to help, but lectures are useless, he simply reads off the powerpoints. All his exams have a ridiculously difficult spectroscopy and synthesis section, but he does give partial credit. I think May is better

Really good professor when working with him one on one. His lecutures are fast, but in order to do well read the book and go over A LOT of problems in order to prepare for the exam. The only thing hard about the class is the amount of time you need to ut into it.

Dr. Crumrine is a nice guy, but be prepared to work really hard just for a B (he suggests 8 hrs a day). I know very few people who had A's going into the final. Not impossible, but extremely difficult. His lectures aren't the best, avoid him if lectures are how you learn!

I took Organic with Dr. Crumrine for Org I & II. Organic is a hard class but it is much more interesting than Gen. Chem. His lectures are sometimes fast because he uses PowerPoint but he also uses the blackboard & gives a lot of examples. He is really helpful in office hours. I liked the test format - Mult. Choic, short answ., reactions,& spec prb.

Awesome prof! He is such a nice guy and trys to get to know each of his many students. Tests are hard, but his curve big. Usually you need a 75-80 for an A. Gives you helpful practice tests. As long as you read the book and study the night before the test, this class is an easy B.

his exams are hard. But he curves huge. Once his c- was a 35%. Just tests and homework. In order to study well for like a A or B based on his curve. I would say: Get to know him WELL, take good notes, ask questions HARDCORE in discussion, read the book and make your own notes, and study 8 hours a day. Orgo is not a joke. But his curve is GIANT!

TAKE CRUMRINE! Fantastic teacher, really helpful, & hilarious! Pick up your exams, go to class, get to know him & he'll help you out! You can use multiple ed. of the txtk. He gives last yrs exams as practice which is very helpful! Exams very similar to practice-so tailor studying accordingly! I got a B- by only studying practice exams! :) GREAT!!

I agree that he is fast in lectures, but as long as you read the book, you're fine. Dr. Crumrine is a very approachable man and he will gladly help you. His jokes aren't grade A, but hey, it makes me chuckle. One of the best professors I have had in my life. Recommended for those who are genuinely interested in chemistry.

He admits he is not the best lecturer. Lectures are really hard to follow. He goes by really fast and lectures are unclear. Save your sanity. Not recommended.

I agree that the exams are completely insane. You can literally study for days and hours and still fail the exam. Additionally, there is mandatory hw that is collected. HW probs can range from 75-115 for EACH chapter!

Crumrine is a really nice guy and he is willing to help you if you are struggling. He teaches using powerpoints which I don't find helpful and I feel like I haven't learned anything by going to class. Read the book, do the homework and ask him questions, but the lectures are useless.

Nice man, always cracks chemistry jokes. Very willing to help you learn, and he really tries to ensure you understand the material. He lectures pretty quickly but his tests aren't terribly difficult. No quizzes, 4 exams(including final), and 50 pts worth of homework problems. You have to study to get an A. But you can probably cram and get a B.
