Comment:
Fantastic professor who does his best to breath some life into Latin. I have had him in intro grammar classes and he does a great job making jokes out of the terrible book sentences. Also, his knowledge of Roman history is extremely vast and I have loved how much he brings in culture to his reading classes.

Dr. Jones is quite likely the best teacher I've ever had. His class is entertaining, stimulating, and challenging in the best way possible. Fairly regular quizzes are graded easily, so I never have to worry about my grade in the class. An extremely knowledgeable professor. Would recommend to majors and non-majors alike.

I'm one of those people who really likes clear grading criteria. So, while Jones is by far the easiest of the Classics profs that I've taken so far, and I did perfectly fine in his class, I found it difficult to understand what he wanted from the class. Talk to other students however, and they love him, so I believe that I'm an anomaly in this.

Totally awesome. The class is somewhat boring, but also wonderfully funny and amusing at the same time. His approach to language is quite traditional, but still great. He is basically an awkward old man who possess the ultimate dry sense of humor.

After three semesters, I'm fairly convinced that Dr. Jones is actually an immortal Roman orator, imparting several thousand years of wisdom upon his students. He is, quite honestly, one of the best teachers you'll ever encounter. A complete master of his field, and always ready with his exceptional wit.

Dr. Jones is the most spectacular professor I've had so far, and certainly a better teacher than any I had in high school. He's fun and friendly, and he not only understands the material like nobody else, but he knows exactly how to teach it, and where students need extra help. 5 stars, fantastic professor.

Dr. Jones is one of the best instructors I've ever had in my life. Unparalleled teacher and lecturer. This class convinced me to keep taking Latin. His angry tangents are the best part of class. Weekly quizzes just to make sure you're up to speed. He's always willing to help during his office hours.

Dr. Jones is simply wonderful. I enjoyed his classes immensely! He takes the time to explain the material and go over any questions students might have. He encourages students to come in for office hours, and he is very helpful if you do come in. He even stayed late a couple of times to help me with questions. Great professor!

Super awesome prof! Never gets sidetracked or distracted, makes you really get poetry. I never did before. Terrific with explaining grammar and poetic techniques and keeping discussion on track, so you read enough materail to get comfortable with it and understand it at a deeper level. Jones is the best EVER!!!!!

Dr. Jones is quite likely the best teacher in any department at Hillsdale. Beginning Latin is unavoidably boring, but he explains it so clearly and so well that I may now understand the concepts of Latin grammar better than I understand English grammar.
