Comment:

Dawn is a very great teacher. She is mute and it may make you think that it will be harder to learn, but she made it fun. I was able to carry on a decent conversation with a deaf woman due to this class and she was happy that I took the time to learn ASL. Sad that Dawn is leaving. Taking ASL-112 this fall with Mr. Bowen.

Dawn is the coolest teacher in the world. I was just stress for the final and check my email and guess what, NO FINAL!!! Easy to learn and lots of fun... Easy A if you do the little homework assigned(answers are in the back of book). Like six classes were cancelled too.

Dawn did not finish the units in the book. the book had 6 units, in 15 weeks we only covered 4 units. this class was a complete waste of time. Dawn had a negative attitude most of the time, she picked on the students that could not keep up. she did not hand out the instructor review at the end of the term, maybe she was scared of what we would say.

I took the entire program with Dawn and the other professors at Delta. learning a new language is easier with someone who actually uses it everyday. yes she's deaf. she does have an illness where she does have to miss alot but she shouldnt be chastised for that. people get sick. thats life. you MUST STUDY or it shows and she wont be happy.

She's an OK teacher when she is there. Misses a lot of classes due to illness. Would like her more if she didn't talk bad about the other ASL professors.

Class was canceled often. I actually learned more from watching the video that came with the book. Planned on taking ASL 3, but she is the only one teaching it so, no. One time I had a question and she told me I should have studied more. Expects you to know ASL but doesn't show up to teach it. Get prepared to be chewed out in front of everyone.

To be honest I loved the class while I was in it; she called off class a few times and no final exam, very lax. But now that I am taking asl 112 I wish I would have learned a little more. She was a good teacher, I was just kind of unprepared for the next class.

I enjoyed the class when we actually had it. Our class was canceled often without warning and many of us would waste our gas getting out to the campus. I feel if I encountered a situation where I could use ASL I wouldn't be able to say anything useful. It was a good class but I wish we would have learned more useful signs.

Dawn is a great teacher I plan ontaking ASL 2 with her as well its easy if you practice the class was always fun and she makes it that way just if you take it make sure to study because she knows who does and doesn't study so study if you getthis class its not hard because you can study anywhere during anything basically

I LOVED this class. She is SO helpful, and so willing to answer any questions you have. She is extremely funny, and it's really interesting actually taking a class from someone that used sign language as their main form of communication (she's deaf herself). Take the class if you like having fun!

She was an awesome teacher if you have an interest in signing, she wants you to learn all about its technique and culture, i would recommmend taking this to anyone, its a great class with an awesome lady fro a teacher.

I think that Dawn was very rude and so was the peer mentor. Never showed up to class and was mad if you had to leave early. Waste of money from the beginning. Out of the first five classes she showed up 3 times, and expected us to rememeber everything she went over 2 weeks before. Don't take her.

She is very fun, very original. She doesn't always follow the text but that's because she has something better in mind. She is very good at explaining ASL concepts. You only do bad in her class if you don't study... she WILL know if you don't study.

I thought she was good. She was fun as well. She didn't always teach the sign used in the book, but what she taught was what you would see in the actual deaf community. Some signs are different in Michigan than everywhere else.

Felt she was not consistent, didn't follow syllabus well and NEVER stayed the entire 4 hour class. Sometimes left after only hour, hour and a half due to "illness". Was expecting more of her students than she gave. Waste of good money!
