She really loves what she teaches and tries to help you some of her work is tedious and boring but she actually is very helpful. If you have questions just ask and particapate in class and if you don't miss any classes you don't have to take the final. She is a slow grader but is always willing to provide feedback and help you

Comment:

Denise will prepare you more than you will realize. One of the few professors who will teach you what you need to know, not teach to a book outline. If you are just trying to coast you may struggle. If you care about what is being taught and the 'bigger picture' you'll be fine.

Very unorganized. Trys to put way too much on students, always extra stuff to go to outside of class. However, very nice, usually knows what she is talking about. Extremely liberal, and it shows.

She ran her class terribly. In-class time was useless, and we had to go to 15 or so cultural events, sometimes as many as four per week (ON OUR OWN TIME!!!) This doesn't work if you hope to have a job in addition to class, you will fall behind! The only good part was rock climbing the second day, it all goes downhill from there.

Very relaxed personality, insightful, and nice. Had to write a few short papers and read a bit. Nothing bad. We had a field trip to the ropes course too. FUN! I really liked her.

I hear she is generally a good teacher, but NOT for orientation. I don't think she really knows anything about the Honors Program so she just requires us to go to tons of events and write essays on them as well as keep up daily journals. Unfortunatly, if you are placed with her you have no choice. Good luck!

The class is easy, as is the grading and everything else. But there is WAY TOO MUCH WORK for having class only ONCE a week. I've got to tell you, Stress class has me totally stressed! Don't take this class while you have other classes that you are NOT going to do well in if you have to waste time on assements and quizes.

This lady is a cook. Her orientation to honors class was way to much work for one credit. We were made to go to 15 cultural events or so. The class work is easy, and she's a pushover teacher, but she has some wierd theories about human learning. Avoid her if you can...for this class anyway.

Denise is the most helpful teacher I've ever had. She will do everything she can to help you understand material. She is also a great adviser. She is very clear about what she wants in assignments but also leaves some things open-ended (but doesn't grade those ones very hard). She is very fair.

Denise Mitten is the BEST. This is just a one credit class. You do have to write 2 papers though. They are very easy. She lets you turn them in when you want to. Have to be strong and/or agile to climb well. Easy A.
