Very knowledgeable when it comes to French grammar; I learned a lot in her course. Unlike other reviewers I found Madame Nevo very approachable especially after hours, though she can be a tad intimidating.

she's a great professor and knows whats exactly what she's talking about. unfortunately she's so discouraging and condescending to be around/ask questions to, that it doesn't matter how much she knows - you can't even talk to her. she's offensive and if she doesn't like you, expect her to penalize you for it. ppl feel very uncomfortable around her.

you better rely on yourself to get through the class. her marking is fair, but as a person, completely unapproachable. the class itself was not hard, but she as a person seems difficult and inflexible, i found i avoided contact with her because she was just so unpleasant to be around. she speaks a lot and fast and is very french so listen up!

I took 2 of her courses and changed my third one simply to get out of her class. she either likes you or she doesn't. I had A's in all my other french courses I do not believe for a moment that it was from my lack of work ethic. I worked the hardest in her classes and did the poorest. Not approachable! She often made a student cry!

Denise Nevo is the definition of a professor who will do everything in her power to lower your chances of succeeding in her class. I am a language student who is currently enrolled in 3 languages and i speak and understand a fourth at home. I worked so hard in her classes, and she has been only horribly rude to me. She is very impatient. avoid her.

Denise Nevo is an Alumni Award for Teaching Excellence recipient and totally deserves it. Take her courses while you can still get them! Teaching method (particularly grammar) is incomparable. She only actually has a problem with slackers who don't do their readings beforehand.

Definitely knows her stuff. But she is incredibly rude to her students and is extremeley mean if you dont understand something. A girl in our class didnt even ASK the question and the prof jumped down her throat. Likes to treat everyone like they are uncomprehending neanderthols that are approximately 9 years old. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Nevo may know her French grammar very well.. but frankly she sucks at teaching. If you don't understand the first time she acts like you're a moron. Very rude and makes it uncomfortable to participate. Condescending and unpleasant. Makes learning French boring and more difficult. Teachers need patience, a quality she lacks. DONT TAKE HER CLASS.

Nevo for the win! This woman has teaching method down pat. Best on staff for: teaching grammar and making it stick, translation. Get her while she's around, folks. She is the only one qualified to teach 3324 in the HRM area. Textbook is prof-made, very easy to read, loaded with useful exercises and tips.

Slackers need not apply. If you're taking a grammar course of any kind, this is the prof to go with if she's available. Knows her stuff and will push you to learn it. Gives homework every week but it supports the material and you know what it will be every week on the very first class. Not very warm but quite accommodating. DO NOT SKIP HER CLASS.

I had Nevo for both 2214 and 2215 and I must say that she is one of the best profs I've had so far. She is strict about the rules of grammar, and will write all over your homework/test in red ink, but you'll get a good mark all the same. You have to work hard, but you will come out of her class knowing so much more about French grammar.

Denise speaks more languages fluently than i can count without having to take off my shoes and socks...and teaches them equally well (French at the very least). she is a fair marker - if you get a question correct, you get credit, you get it wrong, no credit. i have spoken French most of my adult life and have learned a lot more from her in 6 mos

Though on the surface she's a good teacher, and you do learn, I found her EXTREMELY aggressive. SHe makes it difficult to want to speak in class, and yet berates the class for being too quiet and unwilling to talk. I dread going to class, it's the only one I've ever actually skipped.

took 2214 grammar with her in the fall - had to switch to L.L for 2215. In comparison, Nevo is not as interresting in her lecture presentation (if you know Lapierre) but she certainly can and does actually TEACH grammar. if you stick with Nevo and don't mind being corrected a lot for your own benefit, you will like her! extremely fast marker!!
