As long as you do your weekly summary, few essays, participate & obviously show up you will do great. Professor Bartsch was a great help english is not a great subject for me but he made it a little easier. The book "How to Watch the TV News" is an awesome book I would've read it on my own had I found it first.

this teacher is a nice guy but his teaching and grading system is by far th worst for some of us adults thats in class is totally confused and lost majority of the class time the loads of work and essays he gives us are for people that live at home with thier parents not for working adults with children do not take his class if you have other resp.

Comment:

Took class this summer. Intense, yes; but it has been the most useful and informative class I've had so far. I really (finally) learned how to write at a college level. Lectures were very informative and assignments were mostly engaging. I wish I had taken the class during the regular semester because it would not have been so condensed.

He teaches English 101 at community college like it's a graduate course at Stanford. You're expected to know everything prior to the class because he grades your papers on things he hasn't taught yet. Mr. Bartsch doesn't really teach either, you're really expected to figure everything out on your own. He won't answer your questions either.

I took the summer class with this professor last summer. This professor is a no nonsense guy! He is very serious about his classes, and his assignments! Tough grader but makes you want to impress him because of the toughness of his grading.

Mr. Bartsch is nice, but a very serious grading teacher. If you are not willing to work hard, do not take his class. If you work hard and improve you should be fine. Just pay attention to the notes he leaves on your papers, and do not repeat your mistakes. Good luck :)

Professor is a difficult grader, but he knows this stuff. As long as you try and be very detailed in your papers he will grade well. I thought the class was very informative and helped me a lot when I took ENG 102. Highly recommend because you will work hard and learn TONS!

Not a dynamic kind of professor but he knows his stuff. Although his style of teaching bored me I must say i learned a lot from him. All we did was write this class. So many papers but he graded fairly and was helpful. The class is hard work and he may put you to sleep but if you put in the work he will grade you on your progress fairly.

Very helpful. Subjects that you have to write about are very easy. He uses a CD as his textbook (in which you can purchase for $5, and it has all the information for the course in it). After taking his class I feel very confident in my writing skills. He has taught me to be a better writter.

Interesting prof. Loves the subject, you can tell. Did a lot of writing but got easier with each essay. He was always available to discuss problems and offer help. That said, it was alot of work for a summer class.
