If you go to class and keep up with your work the class is not too hard. Petkie can explain concepts in various ways but he has trouble making the lectures interesting.

Good, nice guy, but a little confusing. Makes funny jokes. Not helpful, and I don't feel like he really teaches in class. Asks clicker questions and assigns the responses grades, but doesn't really take attendance. I feel like I had to teach myself a lot of the material.

Great professor! The powerpoints were a little confusing but the clicker questions helped a lot for quizzes and tests. I never read the book, but the review in the back of the chapters is a great way to study. I highly recommend this clas and professor!

Very good teacher. You have to go to class to answer the "clicker questions". He will give you extra credit if everyone does bad on a quiz or test. We had 4 quizzes and 3 tests (1 quiz dropped). I have taken physics 105 and 107 and he is the best teacher yet!

He is a really nice, goofy guy. The tests are easy, the quizzes are sometimes tricky. You do have to study at least a little, mostly the notes, but overall its pretty easy.

Doug's a great instructor. A great guy who is passionate about his subject. I have learned a tremendous amount of information ranging from the atom to the solar system. He makes his lecture notes available on-line and tests directly from them. Being an Art major, I thought this class would be a tough one but it's not. Two thumbs up for Prof Petkie!

I've had Dr. Petkie for 4 classes and he is a very fair professor. His lectures are boring because he loves his power point though. His tests are tough but he is very fair with the grading. If you have questions just go to his office and he is a big help.

Tough professor. If this is not in your specialization I would avoid it. HW and exams took some serious dedication. He did post all of his lecture notes which was really cool.

His T.A. did a better job explaining things than he did. He tries to make an effort, but socially, he is a little "off." Of course, you work in groups in this class, so make sure you work well in them, are you will confuse the hell out of each other. The test's get harder as the class progresses, so make sure you don't slack in attendence.

I thought that Dr. Petkie was NO help at all. When you did try and talk to him, he acted like you were too far below him to help. I did not like him at all...the TA was FAR more helpful.

Dr. Petkie's recitation was helpful for the overall subject matter, but he wasn't on the same page sometimes with Dr. Clark, who was actually teaching the class.
