Attendance counts. the HTML and CSS is easy and you won't need the book. Midterm is easy if you pay attention in class. The Java is really difficult and you will definitely need the book. If you don't read the book for java you will fall behind and then the final is going to be really difficult.

Comment:

Robertson's teaching ability, like many other Bentley CS professors, haven't kept pace with the times. Not sure if it's his material or if he's forced to teach it, but we went over some obsolete html and css code. Plus he made us hand write code for the final. Take someone else if you want to learn from this class. His classes a boring and easy.

This class could be so much better if the professor would let his students get creative once in a while. You could create a masterpiece of a website and he still will fail your assignments because you did not follow the instructions step by step. If you're really interested in learning web design, I recommend you go with a different professor.

I thought this class was very easy. Professor Robertson can be a little boring at times but he often cracks jokes and he knows what he is talking about. Compared to some of the other IT 101 classes, it seems like he gave less work. I would recommend taking him.

Comment:

Robertson is an awesome guy. Not the most exciting, but makes subtle jokes that are good if you catch them. Will help you if necessary. The tests aren't that bad. I got a 4.0 with minimal effort. The assignments can get tricky..don't leave to the last minute. Definitely would recommend!

As long as you keep up with the assignments and know what you're doing, you will do fine. One of the most time consuming classes I've had at Bentley, but I learned a lot. Practically lived at the sandbox but worth it. Dont leave assignments last minute.

I enjoyed having him as my IT professor. Took this class at 8:30 in the morning. Definitely one of the easiest IT professors. He walks you through each SAM assignment in class, so as long as you pay attention you'll be fine. Do the SAM assignments until you get 100%. Very helpful if you go to his office hours. I liked his sarcasm and humor. TAKE.

Definitely one of the easier IT 101 professors. Make sure that you retry SAM & Emerge assignments until you earn 100%. Allows open-note & Internet on the mid-term and final. Personally, I was well entertained by his jokes during class.

He?s a good teacher and he lets you do things over. The class is pretty boring, but he walks you through almost everything. It?s not hard to get a 4.0 in the class. I highly recommend him.

Professor Robertson is a really good guy, but doesn't know at all what he's talking about. 90% of the time he asks the class how to do something. He's not afraid to crack a joke but the class is still boring. If you're looking for an easy 4.0 then I recommend him.

Ok, nice guy but I swearrrr we were teaching him how to use Excel in the class. He tried to sound prepared but when he didn't know something you could tell he was asking us because he didn't know. NEVER had to use the book or do anything. I got a 4.0 for all assignments (we HAD to be in class) but got a D on the final :( Read the book!

How is this guy the chair of the CIS Dept...or even still teaching? Worst experience ever...i got nothing but 4.0's and a 3.7 in all my other 5 classes this semester but ended up with a 2.0 final grade...tests are impossible no point in taking him unless you took java before

Hardest exams ever! Didn't learn anything about Java- had to teach myself all of the material. You can get a decent grade as long as you do the homework, which is an automatic 100 for 40% of the grade. If you actually want to learn something, AVOID!!

Worst professor i have ever experienced in my entire life. He also gave me the worst grade i have ever recieved in my entire life. Exams are impossible, couldnt get above a 56&, final completely IMPOSSIBLE. I did all my assignments just like the other kids say if u do them ul be fine...its a lie. No programming experience...STAY AWAY!

80% assignments, anyone can get all these points if they actually work a little. Final was impossible but just being there and guessing would get you a 3.3 or 3.7, even if you get a zero on final, you still get the 80 if you do your work during the semester

What are these people talking about?! Robertson is the man! 80% of the grade is determined by semi-weekly assignments. If you do an assignment incorrectly, you can redo it. His office availability is also good. If you have a problem, go see him! I knew nothing about html and did well in the course. A poor final grade (50%) can still get you a 3.7!
