Mr. Capps is a very knowledgeable man, but it does not work out to your benefit. If he does not agree with your opinion, then he will not give you good grades!! I have always excelled in English until I took him. I could not get higher than a B in his English102 class. He thinks he is always right, and your way does not matter. I do not recommend!

Mr. Capps was my favorite professor from my Fall 2012 semester of school. He seemed a bit stern and distant at first, but as time went on, he showed himself as a very interesting and helpful teacher. His tips for writing still stick with me to this day... "Topic, purpose, audience, it depends!"

He was very rude and creepy. I have always excelled in English and he would give me bad grades while giving his "favs" good grades. Got tired of this and dropped him. Can't believe he has such a good rating on here.

Capps is an excellent teacher. hes very straight forward and stern, but he gives you every opportunity to bring your grade up, spends a lot of one on one time for each student, and is very thorough...i would definitely recommend him as a professor...at this point in my college career, I've had a LOT worse!

I took the fictional literature course over the summer. Seriously everyone in the class whether they were passing or not enjoyed his class. He is very straight forward and doesn't leave any room for confusion on assignments. Also, emailed and uses D2L effectively!

Comment:

Best English instructor I had. It's a writing class so you have a few papers to write but he spells it out in class and then you have opportunities to rewrite for better grade. No reason not to do well in this class if you show up and meet him halfway. Got an A, would definitely take one of his classes again.

I took this class 5 years ago and I can still say this guy is the worst professor I've encountered. If he doesn't agree with your views, you will do horribly. I did so bad in his class, and, ironically, I will write for a living. This guy is a JOKE. I can't believe he's still employed.

He was a great teacher. He gives you chances to boost your grades. However your opinion on things does not matter.He wants his way or the highway. BUt i wasn't having that. If you want your opinion to be listen to or heard you have to prove it. ANd i did i'm a very stubrun person when it comes to my views and he soon saw things my way.Be prepard.

Didnt like him @ all he. He did expalin things well but he thinks he knows everything about Poetry and he thinks everything he says is funny and it never is. He is the worst english teacher ive ever had. If you do his work your fine BUT make sure you do it his way because to him there is only 1 way to do a paper and thats his.

I love professor Capps. I took him for ENG 100,101, and 102. I got all A's. He tells you just want he wants and you can go against his opinion of a story, but you have to be ready to back it up with your essays. You do have a lot of writing, but it not hard to get an A if you take notes on the storys in class.

Pretty good teacher. Class kind of boring, but how could English be exciting really. It's primarily reading and thinking about what you have read. Teacher tells you exactly what he wants as long as you pay attention. Unlimited rewrites and always explains mistakes on your essay.
