Comment:

Dr. Ed is great. He gets that MBA programs are filled with professionals and has lax deadlines. That said, the material is tough and there are only the two exams that really test your knowledge. Quizes are T/F Exams MC. The book has a connect but not required. It was helpful for doing homework while traveling. The lectures are long but good.

Dr. Doty is many of the things that previous reviewers have pointed out Dr. Doty is Scatterbrained, relies heavily on his car biz examples, and he does go off on tangents. However I enjoyed most of the stories, he is relaxed in terms of deadlines and answered several personal accounting questions. Watch the lectures, do the practice problems PASS

He's super confusing and rambles on about who knows what. I thought I hated the subject but turns out it's not that bad, just his teaching style makes it really hard to understand/boring. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure he's the only one that teaches this class. Make sure to study the diagrams and vocabulary and you should do fine!

I really liked Dr. Doty. He actually made me enjoy accounting, something I never would have believed was possible. He was very kind, and patient in answering questions. And yeah, he talks a lot about his family's car dealership, but if you pay attention, it is actually relevant to the material. I would take another class with him for sure.

Dr. Doty means well, but there is a lot to be desired from his teaching skills. He obviously knows the material, but his lecture style didn't work for me. He uses powerpoints straight from the textbook and talks the entire class period. I ended up teaching myself. Study guides are helpful. He assigns homework, but he did not collect it.

not the best teacher at ECU. he definitely knows a lot about accounting but he is not very clear while teaching it. he goes off on random tangents that has no relation to accounting.

Great teacher easy to sit through class and has a good curve. Didn't grade homework or take attendence only need a 50 on quizzes to get full credit. Never take accounting online no matter the teacher.

Mr. Doty is just a little bit dry. He knows the material well, but clarity isn't his strong point. Tests are fair and multiple-choice. Reviews suggested homework problems in class. E-mails his annotated PPT slides to the class after each chapter. Worst thing about class: graded assignments on McGraw-Hill Homework Manager (which costs extra).

Very little curve. Tests are difficult and proctered. Very disorganized. This was an online course for me. Doesn't answer emails unless they are of a personal nature. You have to get info from the discussion board and some questions were never answered. Seemed like a nice guy and willing to help but most of the class was at a loss.

HE is a very funny and nice man, but his classes tend to be quite boring because he emails you the power points and then he reads them during class. If you study you shoudl be okay and he is open for questions and help.
