Comment:
He is retired, so hes super chill about the class. Hes pretty much still teaching because he loves to teach. Course very interesting, and not at all difficult. He required a bunch of 3 page papers which he recommends to "spend no more than three hours on." Overall, as long as you do (most) of the readings and participate in class, its a fun, easy A

seriously an awesome professor and class. very approachable outside of class and always offering to have lunch with his students. allows rewrites on all the papers, so as long as you're willing to work, you'll do fine in the class...and learn a lot too! again...awesome class! take it!

I don't know why everyone's comments are so negative! Very nice, knowledgeable, loves his students and what he does. I learned a lot- and I wasn't even interested in the subject area before the class.

He's a self-important, megalomaniac. Doesn't hesitate to belittle you by comparing you to past "prodigies." Nobody gives a s*** how many languages you know and all the places you've lived. Oral final exam...sitting across the desk from his co-prof while Mauskopf listened in on the phone from his hospital bed freaked me the hell out.

The most arrogant professor I have ever encountered. Informed us that the Chinese built the Great Wall in order to keep out nature (contrasting it with Rachel Carson's Silent Spring). Literally turned around and walked away every time I tried to discuss my grade with him.

I just wish he'd tone down the self-importance a bit... I'm just sick to death of hearing how amazing he is, along with how amazing past student x was and how "of course x knows what's going on!"

FOCUS class-didn't know a thing about acting and theater but pretended to...muttered under his breath the entire time and told the same stories about 4 or 5 times (not exaggerating). although we all did get A or A- so it was easy (though you don't have a clue as to your grade until the end)

Mauskopf is really nice, and his class was very fair. He allowed re-writes on all the papers except the last one, and the final was optional and could only help your grade. He definitely wanted everyone to do as well as possible. A really entertaining lecturer.

prof mauskopf is a really nice, old jewish man...but really, one of the most boring lecturers ive ever encountered. his class seems like it's going to be easy, but if you have no background, it definitely requires work. definitely use him or the ta for help, extremely beneficial for rewrites.
