Really a great class, I was very surprised with the quality and effort he puts into his lectures. Some people may find his lectures boring because of the history he talks about, but if those people payed attention they might have actually learned something. Top notch professor, I highly recommend his classes.

Took Orgo 2 as a summer class. Only attended two lectures before realizing it was a waste of my time. He doesn't even talk about what is on the powerpoint, just random stuff. Not even related to science sometimes. Labs were okay. Basically all learning needed to be done on my own. Definitely does not respond to emails.

Dr. Cook knows his organic chem, but he's terrible at teaching it. He will rant off into the history of chemistry or tell you facts that do not relate to the topic at all. He's forgetful and very unorganized. Would not recommend taking organic with him, you will learn nothing.

I took him for two courses. He understands that community college students have family and work duties too. I suspect that most of the negative ratings were from jealous colleagues who treat their students like idiotic children.

I really enjoyed astronomy class with him. Very insightful and inspirational. Fun class. Made me feel like the piece of cosmic dust that I am. One of the best college courses I have taken. Definitely recommend. Dr. Cook was astronomical!

Cook is very intelligent and knows what he's doing but hard to understand when he teaches. He make you feel stupid for asking questions and relates plum pudding to neutrons and electrons.. I feel like I'm in a history class more than a chem class. I was very excited in the beginning of the semester but he's such a bad teacher I've learned nothing.

Not impressed, Tries to explain things using real world examples but does horrible job. Speeds through the power point without explaining anything in detail. Lectures are unclear and confusing. Says most random things in classroom and questions you on that in exam. His analogies does not make sense. Not helpful, does not like to answer question.

Lectures are irrelevant to subject most of the time, gets off the topic all the time. Does not like to answer question or repeat himself. Grading doesn't make any sense. Tries to explain things but ends up making you more confuse. Most of the class felt lost during lecture. You are completely on your own for studying. Practice exams are outdated

Dr. Cook is a world travelled scholar who uses wit & examples from the real world and utilizes them in his teaching of chemistry. He offers unique bits of wisdom & makes chemistry more interesting. He is a generous grader & his exams are fairly straightforward, read the book, review power points, use the old exams he gives to study you'll do fine!

Dr. Cook makes chemistry applicable to the real world. Tests are pretty straightforward uses power point- (plus he uses a curve). He is a very intelligent man and uses humor and stories of his travels which adds interest to chemistry. I liked lab with him- he really does take the fright out of chemistry. Can't wait to take organic chem with him!

I took Organic Chem before, got a D, learned nothing, and was basically terrified of the subject. Then I took it over the summer with Dr. Cook. Print the .ppt and review every slide. Tests are fair. There's nothing asked that's not in the slides. It's a tough subject to teach, and learn, but if you do the work you can get an A with Dr. Cook!

He knows his stuff but that doesn't mean that he knows how to teach it too. Tests were alright; which were 25 to 30 multiple choice every time. He talks about his travelling to Europe and stuff. Also he uses some videos which doesn't even make sense. If you want to learn chemistry , I'd recommend to take someone else.

Took Cook in the summer for Chem 121. Waste of my time to attend class. He rants and raves about his travels, England, British, Poland, Cambridge, Oxford, etc. Useless videos - tests were alright. Practice tests helped some. He threw in curve balls, his grading system doesn't make sense. Overall, wouldn't recommend him to anyone! Plain and simple.

I already have a bachelors degree and am obtaining a second one. This is the worst class in my college career. Prof Cook doesn't teach anything at all. He spends the class time talking about his travels and random science facts. You are on your own for learning the subject. The tests are the same as the practice exams. Memorize them and you'll pass

I truly believe that Dr. Cook is a brilliant guy with a lot of knowledge of Chemistry but he did not teach anything. No calculations. The exams are 20-25 multiple choice. No calculator needed. The lowest grade you can get is a 70. The few times that I asked questions, they weren't really answered. I am sad that I have to retake this class :(

I have no idea how students rate Dr Cook so highly. He knows his chemistry, but it doesn't mean he knows how to teach it. Took him for Chem1 and learned nothing, so I pretty much had to take him for The 3 remaining classes. Four semesters later with decent grades and still don't know the subject. If you want to learn chem, take someone else.

He is a World traveled Chemistry Scholar! He teaches, Chemistry, taught Physics, Calculus, Astronomy. he employs a "T" score that is statistically valid so 50 is a B, and lab grades if you get "10" points x 10 labs that's 1 test grade of 100 that brings test grade up. His teaching method takes the fright out of Chemistry, take him you'll love Chem!
