He is extremely knowledgeable! Not only is he an expert in literature and literary criticism, he is very knowledgeable about history, psychology, etc.. He always presents "many" points of views so that one feels like they are getting a well-rounded education. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and learned a lot!

I had Knapp my senior year as an undegrad. Had I taken him earlier on in my ed. career, I would have struggled. You read alot, and you look very closely at texts. Knapp shows you how to do a close text analysis and how to use modern criticism to analyze texts. He is extremely knowledgeable, very approachable, and , overall, amazing!

This professor is an excellent methods teacher. He will improve your understanding of literature, teaching methods and research habits. He stuck to the syllabus and had a course packet that is worth its weight in gold for any future or current English teacher.

I did not enjoy this class, but that wasn't REALLY the professor's fault. I disliked every book assigned. He was very informed and allowed for ample class discussion. Quizzes were open book but this made them a bit more difficult. He was a fairly easy grader on the essays and allowed at least one day for peer review in class.

He's a nice guy, comes off kind of rough but is pretty cool. Problems: the way he sets up the course-one paper worth 50% of grade. Wants everyone to read with close analysis to everything..if you don't answer something the way he wants, you're wrong until someone says what he wants.

Professor Knapp is an extrememly gifted teacher. Besides being intelligent, he's a great teacher. Knapp doesn't just tell you what you need to know about the books he teaches, but he teachs you how to think about what the book is about, and why it's important. As a Senior English major, he is the best professor I've had.

Bases grades on whether he likes you or not. Didn't have a syllabus, didn't teach as all the material, didn't give constructive criticism, is too out dated. He should teach just english classes, not methods. It was a waste of time and money. He needs to retire!!!!

I loved Dr. Knapp! I wish I could take another one of his classes. He is hard, but is understanding and always willing to help. He wants to come off as a tough guy to scare away slackers, but really is a nice guy.

Dr. Knapp is a very dedicated professor. Shakespeare's writing isn't that "easy," but after this class, you will read his work fluently, and best of all, ENJOY it. Plus, you'll also write about it well; Dr. Knapp provides very useful feedback on papers. Highly recommended.

I'm writing this after teaching a year, to say that theory & lesson plans mean far less than the ability to think on your feet, to learn a poem or story overnight and figure out how best to teach it, and to switch methods in mid-class when you're dying. Knapp taught me all this, so pay attention and learn what really matters.

Just avoid this one if you can. You'll find his attitude poor, and ideas outdated. I feel I wasted precious time in his class and would never recommend him if you can avoid it. If you're required to read books on teaching that haven't been published in 10 years, that's saying something about how up-to-date this guy is in his own methods.

Professor Knapp is an excellent professor, at least in the Shakespeare class. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. The class is difficult, if you are lazy or don't come to class, but if you come and take notes the class is fun. I would recommend this class and Professor Knapp to anyone wanting to take it.

I think Professor Knapp is an excellent professor who is extremely knowledgeable about the teaching professsion. However, he does expect quality work, which gives many students who are rather lazy a reason to complain. If you are not afraid of hard work, and you want to learn from an expert, then take Knapp's class.

I've never wasted so much time in my life. I have not created a single thing that will be useful in student teaching or teaching ever. I have learned absolutely nothing. We have not done one assignmt in 1/2 a semester. This class is a waste of time and $, I wish I was with Dr. J. he's tougher but at least he TEACHES, Knapp rambles on about nothing and you leave class feeling like you've wasted precious time-and you have-YOUR OWN. Switch classes while you still can.

He may know a lot about Shakespeare, but he isn't a good teacher. Very heavy workload for this class. He doesn't follow the syllabus, so papers and quizzes pop out of nowhere. I don't recommend him at all. He is not very approachable either.
