Comment:

Professor Guzik is really nice and funny at times, but she can get off topic a lot during class time. She does take attendance, but it isn't really necessary to go. Only 3 papers and 1 final. Class is fairly easy to pass.

Comment:

I took her this semester, she is okay honestly. Will she be your favorite professor? No. Will you take her again? No. But it is not the end of the world if you end up in her class, she is just really disorganized and you my as well throw the syllabus away the first day of class. However, she is lenient because of her nature.

Comment:

Professor Guzik is incredibly knowledgeable and gives the most interesting lectures. The course assigned a ton of reading but 90% of the novels assigned were excellent choices made by professor Guzik. Her class was a great learning experience and she was very understanding and flexible with the work load. Highly recomended

Comment:

It's an easy "A". She's a real sweetheart. Goes off topic sometimes though but she's not boring. Assigns interesting, easy to access literature. If you like to read and are a fairly decent writer this course should be a breeze for you. Attendance not mandatory yet she always takes roll! Recommended!

Though very unorganized, she is very caring and smart about there subject. She has 3 exams and 2 essays for this class. If you want an easy class this is it. Just read the required assignment and you should be fine. Heads up she is hard to access outside of class, takes forever to email back

To date this has been my favorite class ever at CSULB. She is very unorganized but we get the work done without over complicating the assignments.

Not accessible outside of class! Really bad at responding emails, grading papers back on time! She is nice during office hours but its hard to get ahead of the work when you don't receive feedback in a timely manner! Her lectures are all over the place and never to the point.

A brilliant and kind woman but terminally scatter-brained. Barely discusses the texts she assigns. Often forgets to open dropboxes on time, constantly pushes back due dates. Very flexible to make up for her forgetfullness. Frustrating, but fun class and an easy A.

Enjoyable class. She gave students a wide variety of texts to read, but she did not discuss them in-depth due to mismanagement of her time. For a writing intensive course, not too challenging. She had reading response journals, but only 6 were turned in for the whole semester (postpones due dates). The midterm/final are open book, internet,& notes.

Unprepared, disorganized, and utterly infuriating are words that come to mind when describing this professor. She not only gets distracted, veers off topic and wastes class time, she also doesn't respond back to emails, uses dozens of excuses to delay every assignment, bribes the class with pastries during evaluation... By far the worst prof in csu

The worst professor ever. DO NOT TAKE HER. She is super unorganized, did not give me back any of my essays until like two days before the final draft was due. She does not write anything positive about your paper. Do not take her. She is absolutely horrible. DO NOT.

I had her for 270A and ENG380and I really like her. She keeps me awake during her class because she is entertaining. Her personal stories helped me relate to the reading and remember them better when it came time for quizzes and tests. She is disorganized but tries to keep instruction clear for students. She is so nice and helpful. Would recommend.

While it's definitely true that Guzik spends a lot of class time regurgitating anecdotes from her own life, she still has an incredible selection for the readings. The course in itself is not difficult to pass, and she gives plenty of opportunity for you to complete work, because she likes to sympathize with the stressful life of the student.

Worst professor I have ever had. Spent hours talking about her personal life or small details in the novels or irrelevant info. She thinks she is hilarious. RIDICULOUSLY UNORGANIZED. There was no planning for this course, made it up as she went along. Term paper has very little to do with class content. So frustrating, RUN!

She is a very bad professor. She takes about 1 hour to explain one thing and we think we are going to class to do something and never have time for it. I would never recommend this class to anyone because I wouldn't want to put you through this torture.

Professor Guzik is the absolute worst professor I have ever had. She constantly changed due dates, didn't give us the syllabus until 1/2 way through the semester, and talks more about herself than anything to do with the course. She spends the entire two hours talking about one very obvious detail in the text, but doesn't cover more complex ideas.
