Quite possibly the WORST professor I have had in college. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I saw the reviews beforehand but decided to give it a try because it worked with my schedule. Huge mistake. Watched films, pretty much no lecture, learned nothing, so disorganized, waste of time. It makes me upset that she is even a professor at this university.

To start off, DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES!! I'm taking two of her classes at the same time and it was THE worst mistake of my life. You basically have to read 8 books, 2 midterms, final presentation/20 page paper for this class (imagine this, but times two). Disorganized, inconsiderate, can't get a hold of her. Just don't take it, listen to me

Professor Twine sucks. Her class is the most disorganized bs I have ever had to put up with. She doesn't give clear rubrics but still expects an insane amount of specifics. The reading load is absolutely ridiculous and she doesn't talk about any assignments in class. Not accessible AT ALL. Save yourself and DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!

does not lecture, we simply watch films and then discuss them for 15 minutes each class. Professor Twine is honestly a very intellectual person and I have learned a lot from her class but she assigns way too much work. 8 texts, 2 midterms, and a 24 page paper/presentation. The content is so interesting but she has no consideration for her students.

This professor is unorganized. She did not show up at least 3-4 times throughout the quarter. She will blame the TA for being not on top of the grading, but the professor is not up to date with her work. Highly advise not to take her class.

I've heard she's a good prof but all we did was watch movies and had so much reading like most people aren't taking other upper divs?? SO SO disorganized and terrible communication skills. the media analysis paper is a cool project but requiring class to print out 40 articles is insane. movies in class aren't free so pay attention or $$ l8r

This has easily been the worst class I have ever taken. Professor assigns way too much reading as if you don't have any other classes. Attendance is mandatory even though she only shows movies you have to rewatch at home later. NO teaching. Requires perfection on tests, but gives us study guide only 3 days before test on a major holiday weekend :(

she's straight up disrespectful, she shows no consideration to student work load. trust me dont take her class. the test are not hard but its a lot of work. theres a lot of reading. gives one week to study for the midterm, unless she fs up to release the questions were she will expect you to study for it in three days. no lectures just films

Do not take 185g with her! We had to read 2 books the first week and then 1 book per week after that. You also have to do an extensive research project and give a speech & midterm &final & pop quizzes that were too specific that even if you read the books you will not remember those small details. I am an A student in honors and this class hurt me

One of my favorite professors but i think she expects too much reading, not realizing that you have 2 or 3 other classes that will assign entire books with essays as well. I really liked her and enjoyed the movies we would watch. I wish there wasn't a section for her class because it's upper div. and by now I know how to write an essay.

This is my 2nd class with her. In all honesty, she is brilliant and would probably be an amazing professor. BUT she is completely disorganized, never shows up to office hours or gets there (1-1.5) hours late, she is just not accessible. On top of that, she never emails you back or gives any sort of IMPORTANT notices (like sections are canceled).

took her for 155t. you have to read one book per week the first 5 weeks but 4 of the books were good! she gives you a week to prepare for midterm and exam. honestly, my favorite class at ucsb. salinas was a great ta as well. fun class to go too.

VERY disorganized, changed the syllabus various times. Didn't communicate assignment guidelines & made us redo them various times. 3 tests, only counts 2 but you need to have good notes from class/readings to make a cheat sheet of quotes that are mandatory in the test. A book was assigned every single week. TA quit & new grader saved my final grade

Excited 4 this class at first.. 2 books to read - 2 papers due in first week. VERY unclear on what are responsible for - Syllabus changed 2x - hardly lectured - mostly watched videos - NEED to take detailed notes - Quotes needed on the SG for Test - 1st day questionnaire insulting to hard working students - so disappointed

Horribly disorganized, contradicts herself when talking about assignments, says she'll put rubrics online but doesn't. A 4 page paper due every week on a book, every two weeks there's a midterm which are never too bad. Final paper due the same day as the last midterm, which is extremely stressful as its a 3000-4000 word paper. Avoid this class.

Great and important class! Twine assigns a book a week, heavy reading but I got by reading the intro and 1st 30 pgs of the book. If you link up with a group to tackle the study guide questions that will ease the load tremendously! Twine covers all races. She means business but overall is fun and a very educated teacher.

Great class with interesting topics applicable to society of today. Taking this class shifted my lens of interpretations of race and ethnicity on so many levels. Prof. Twine is helpful assignments and readings. She is genuinely interested in assisting her students with being successful in class. Definitely visit office hrs & read!
