I didn't learn much but I had fun and it was super easy. If you want an easy A and don't actually care about learning anything useful, take this class. He's nice, simple. Just show up to class.

Took him ten years ago at SIUE and still talk about him as one of the BEST professors I had the privilege to have. The group project was a pain, but it was a great experience. I am sad to see him go. Some of the comments just show the immaturity of the mind that is speaking.

Not the greatest teacher. Seems like all we did was talk about current events which was interesting but not terrible informative, and the lectures consisted of him giving us textbook defintions for the terms we were supposed to know. I agree he does seem to favor minorites. It wasn't hard to get an A but it was definitely not my favorite class.

I respect Dr. Stokes, but I cannot say I enjoyed his class. We discussed current events, but other than that I found no usefulness in the course. The tests are fairly easy but pointless. The group project was the worst part of the class and was a serious waste of time. I did just fine in the class, but I do not recommend it.

Although this class is extremely interesting, if you are not a minority or a friend of Stokes you should not be in the class. You will walk out everyday with a bad attitude because you have been put down in some way in the 50 minutes you sat in the class. It just seems like he has a soft spot for minorities. Sometimes class gets cancelled though.

Stokes is an amazing teacher! I don't see how people can havve negative comments about his class and want him gone. I actually look forward to going to his class.I absolutely love having group discussions and how we talk about so many controversial issues in the class. I have learned so much from this class.

he is a terrible teacher. you do absolutely nothing in class and get out early a lot. you will learn nothing at all. his tests are ridiculous, he tells you kinda what to study and then none of it is on the test. he is always answering his cell phone which is annoying. group projects are a big waste of time and so is teaching a chapter to the class.
