Dr. Tsao is probably one of the smartest people you will ever meet. His classes are tough but you will learn more than you ever thought you could. He is unusual and quirky, but you will never forget him.

He's very engaging in class and tries very hard to make sure the students remember their material. He keeps his tests to what he's lectured on, so keep your lecture notes at hand. Very friendly and open.

Comment:

Absolutely brilliant. "Tough" isn't the word, but I learned more in one semester with him than in all the other psychology classes I had with other professors combined. He'll push you to do your best and won't accept excuses, but he is genuinely compassionate and cares for his students. Easily one of the most intelligent men I've ever encountered.

Comment:

I kept hearing that he's incredibly tough, till someone told me how to pass his exams: be sure to do all the reading, paying special attention to examples, words in bold print, and obscure details. Day or two before the exam, do all the reading and type out the bold words. I got an 84 on the first exam and a 90 on the second, no sweat.

He is incredible. Everyone says their professors are brilliant, but he works every year with professors who teach at Harvard and other top notch schools. He knows his stuff, plain and simple.

I had a hard time with Dr. Tsao at first- in terms of grasping the material he gave us, but by the end of my years at Hillsdale he was by far my favorite professor~ even though he was still light years ahead of me.

Dr. Tsao was the "lynch pin" in my eventual sad downfall from psychology...the love is lost, and apparently now he is the department chair; God rest the soul of former chair and my advisor, Dr. Charles Ransford, a truly great man.
