Very few assignments. He is a bit tough on how you present your speeches but other than that this is a super easy class. He could be a little rude at times but nothing too crazy.

Comment:

Amazing professor. Professor Peterson really cares about his students. He makes the class super fun. I took his V01 Speech Class, I loved it so much, needed my last English credit that I took V10 Debate. Debate wasn't easy, but he really helps you with critical thinking and makes us improve on our communications skills. He's one of the best!!!

Comment:

I did not enjoy his class. He is a very nice man, but he didn't seem to put a lot of effort into the class. The class ended up having to teach the class and WE came up with the questions for his tests. Students don't come up with GREAT questions, let's just say that. He showed us Crash (2004) which is the worst movie I have ever seen.

Take him in the Summer! Provides clear grading criteria. 4 speeches: present your partner, attitude value speech, informative, and persuasive speech. Nail all the requirements on your informative & u don't have to give persuasive speech, just turn in the outline. Only have to go to class on days u present. Awesome teacher, makes it easy & fun.

Professor Peterson is a nice professor to take a class with. He doesnt ask for much in the way of attendance, but you need to come prepared on the day that an assignment is due. He has a slow, hypnotizing way of speaking, but hypnotizing in a good way. I would definitely recommend taking Professor Peterson.

Comment:

We only have 1 group persuasive speech, 1 persuasive speech, and 2 partner debates on a topic (class choice). He really cares and will help you if you ask, recommend preparing your FULL plan as soon when debates start and fully research it. Definitely recommend if you need a com class. The class almost grows to become friends, friendly environment.

I took him for the summer. Great teacher strongly recamend . Course has 4 speeches. First one not graded you only present to 1/3 of the class. 2 speech easy present 1/3 of the class. 3 speech ok present to the whole class. 4 speech no need to present only have a good outline and you'll get an A in the class. VERY EASY class.

Prof. Peterson is a pretty laid back guy, he knows his stuff about argument and debate. I took his night class, and enjoyed it. Only thing is you are given ONE topic to learn about the entire semester. For my class it was the death penalty, I now hate hearing about it. It gets annoying after awhile. Other than that, easy grader & only 2 speeches.

I took this speech class during the summer and I enjoyed it. Mr. Peterson is very clear on what he expects from his students. He is willing to help and answers to emails very quickly. He doesn't like students walking into class late so be on time. We had 3 speeches during the 8 week class, one small and 2 major speeches. Really cool teacher :)

Show up on time, listen carefully to the instructions including buying a large VISUAL Aid, sourcing your information correctly and picking subjects that matter to you, as that comes through in your speeches and he seems to like passion over perfection. Your Persuasive speech is the biggest and the most important, do that good, you pass.

Be on time, listen to his instructions carefully, including buying a large VISUAL AID, and sourcing correctly, you should do fine. There were 3 speeches, the Persuasive speech being the major speech and the hardest being 50% of the grade. Pick your speeches on things you are passionate about, that will come through in the speech, which he liked.

Demanding teacher but VERY understanding of the anxiety this inherent in this giving speeches. Does a great job helping people through that and giving good advice on developing your speech style. The Lincoln-Douglass debates (which are the final) were hard but teach you a lot about yourself (if you don't drop). I recommend this course.

I had to take speech class as part of my educational plan, and was dreading it from the start. I took Mr. Peterson's class and was very happy with what I got. He was kind, straightforward, and willing to help everyone. I really did leave his class with an ability to speak in front of others. I highly recommend him.
