He's a nice guy, but his lectures are high-level, hard-to-follow theory rather than application (like his syllabus suggests). As a result of this and a lack of structure in his lectures, it is difficult to learn from the course or course lectures, and lectures are required. He makes it easy to pass, though. Take fall semester (different prof).

Mr. MacSithigh cannot explain the material to even the best students. It is hard to stay awake during his lectures and borderline impossible to follow along. I would not recommend taking him.

Bad professor, extremely boring lectures. Tests are graded harshly, and he sets you up poorly for the final. Learn DYNAMICS before this class, because you won't learn it in his section.

He knows the material but has no idea how to teach. His tests are open book/notes/tests/hw but he still occasionally tweaks a problem which can make it go from easy to near impossible since he's done such a terrible job teaching. His powerpoints seem to be for someone who knows the material really well. Also it's almost painful to pay attention.

Most boring teacher i have come across. will put you to sleep while drinking a redbull. Does not go by the book which makes it difficult to follow. But his slides on blackboard are very useful. his exams are open book open note and look almost exactly like the back exams. sometimes without even the numbers being changed.

The guy can regularly solves 4th order DE's in his head, but that doesn't mean he can teach. He spends a lot of time on formula proofs rather than applications, which would help a lot more. Depend on your book.

Knows the material but not how best to teach it. Puts a lot of weight on programming--be prepared to write a LOT of MATLAB code. Not much homework. The material's not too difficult, and though he's not always clear in class, he'll go to the ends of the earth to help you outside of class. Tests take 2-3 hours apiece, but they're easy if you prep.

He sucks at teaching but really likes to help us out. Teach your self most of the part but use his on-line stuff like sample tests. If you understand the homework problems, tests are very easy.

If you've got him for an advisor, be prepared to: (a) argue a lot (b) ignore him. He won't let you take a serious course load, which really p*sses me off, b/c we (college students) are old enough to drive, smoke, buy guns, vote, work, and live on our own, but somehow can't decide what classes we want. So he'll choose 'em for you :)

This guy's lectures are almost impossible to understand. He makes everything up off the top of his head, which sort of works, because he's brilliant, but then again nobody's perfect and he makes about 15 mistakes per hour. Nobody notices because he goes so fast (it's impossible to listen and write notes). Lecture is also devoid of any structure.

Not the easiest to understand. If you keep up with the homework and ask him if when have questions he'll get you through a challenging course. better that the other insructors for 211. beware of his office, has to be an OSHA violation.

Most knowledgeable on the subject. People say that he was horrible for 160, but he is very straight-foreward in 211. Although he seems uncomfortable when you come to his office, he is definitely willing to help if you're serious. If you just do the crazy homework and study for the tests, you'll do fine. Don't, and you'll flunk.

MacSithigh is an awesome professor.He knows his subject better than any other professors that teach the same course.Also, he is interested in the subject as well.If you don't slack off in class, you'll do fine.Very straightforward.Definitely choose MacSithigh over any other prof for linear systems.

While most people did not like him for EM 160, He did quite a good job teaching Linear Systems. I would recommend him over any other teacher for that class.
