Professor Nelson is a great man, but I did not like the setup of this class. The whole class was taught by students doing group projects, which I did not like. The presentations themselves were usually fun and interesting, but I felt like I only had a really good understanding of my group's topic. Professor Nelson is also a tough grader.

Refuses to engage in dialectic. Unethically grades you against yourself.

Only take Intro to Theater if you like theater, but if you do take it, take it from George. He helps everyone see how awesome theater is and is really good at helping you develop your skills.

Professor Nelson is solid. He doesn't have the knowledge base of someone who actually studied religion postgrad, but he makes up for it with his passion and obvious care for all of his students. Sometimes he says some out there stuff, but by and large he's a good professor.

Prof. Nelson is the best. His class is straightforward. He will not try to confuse. Assignment or quiz due each class period but they are easy(mostly for attendance). If you read the Book of Mormon and go to class you will get a good grade. I loved this class and would recommend that anyone take it.

I really loved the passion he had for theatre. Even though I'm not majoring in theatre, he made me want to! While some thing were not entirely clear, he was very helpful during and after assignments, taking time to explain what you should do to improve. He not only helped me scholastically, he helped me realize my potential as a person. Great guy.

Truly a fantastic man and a superb teacher. He cares for his students, and he shares what he has learned in life. This class teaches you to appreciate and anticipate the world of theater. I think every student should take this class, it helps you become a more well-rounded, communicating and intelligent person.

Very structured class and based on the textbook for the 1st half of class and grading seemed kind of harsh at times, but overall pretty fair. DO THE READING IN THE BOOK and start rehearsals early (and get a lot in) because they kind of tear you down a bit in grading your final scene, haha. But you can still get an A and its a fun class! Great prof.

Great guy! Really gets you excited about the world of theater and relates many things to the scriptures. Attendance is a big part of your grade so don't skip! And make sure you get your service hours done early in the semester or you're screwed.

George Nelson has made a powerful impact on my life as a student. He was a fantastic teacher and he cared for his students, and was passionate about what he did. Not only did he teach me much about Theatre in class, but he also taught me life skills that I truly believe help me to be a better person. He brought the spirit into his teaching.

As an acting major, I was annoyed to have to take this class because I felt it would be the same stuff I already knew, but George is amazing. Theatre became an entirely new fascination for me after this class. He is clear, passionate, helpful and always finds some way to bring a spiritual side to it. I HIGHLY recommend this class.

Bro. Nelson was an amazing teacher. I had him for Theatre and Book of Mormon and I had a great experience in both classes. He's so spiritual and insightful, but also has a great sense of humor. I hope I'll have the opportunity to take another class from him in the future.

His online course was very impassioned and moving. Papers are practically participation although quiz's are absolutely self-esteem destroying. I appreciate theater a lot more that before I started!

He teaches you how to become a great teacher. He does not apply these methods to his own teaching. He is a "do as I say, not as I do" type.

Nelson is a very great teacher. He has a very powerful testimony, and is great at bringing the spirit to the classroom. Quiz ever thursday, one page paper due every tuesday, midterm and a final. Not bad at all. Really likes to teach about the geography of the Book of Mormon.

I was nervous about being graded for religion but this class was great. He is very organized and insightful. Most of the grade is on participation(attendence, short papers, etc.).On assignments he gives full credit just for competent completion. His quizzes are getting less picky and are reasonable. The BOM is the only required reading.Highly recommend
