Great class, honestly. Easy grade if you go to class and do the work. There are ten quizzes on the book chapters and one-semester long paper. You do one paragraph at a time for grades. Dr. Bell is a wonderful professor, but she will not give grades.

Comment:

She is the professor you want to take for optimal writing growth. Weak students will say she repeated herself too much or they write negative comments about her. I disagree, if you want to take an English class with an easy teacher, go ahead. You're only hurting yourself. i recommend her to the students that take their education seriously.

She repeated herself every single time and expected us to go to a tutor instead of her actually teaching us. We basically wrote one essay this whole semester, each week we would write one paragraph for that essay. During the semester there was only one helpful class day and that was because we had peer review time and actually got feedback.

She do does not allow you to schedule to meet with her, but she rather you go see a tutor instead of her being your instructor she will not help out. Constantly respects her self, class time is a waste of time, and every class period is the same doesnt go by syllabus!

I took her for 1301 and 1302, glad I did. She goes through each step there is to write an informational and research essay. She is a tough grader but with each essay, she gives a lot of feedback. Miniscule exams about the textbook. At first, what she is asking for makes no sense but over time you start to understand. Gets off topic a lot.

Great Instructor with a Ph.D. and very knowledgeable and passionate about making sure students grasp the concept and urges tutorials which most students never do. She takes a unique approach to research essays, instead of handing out a prompt and that's it, she uses the entire semester helping you draft it one paragraph at a time. She's very clear.

If you already have a degree in writing take her. (Meaning don't) She doesn't teach anything and expects your writing to be perfect. Never satisfied with anyone's essays and wants you to go to a tutor for help, she doesn't have time. Talks until the very last second of class just to keep you there even if there isn't anything to talk about anymore

Dr. Bell is AMAZING!! When she reviews your work she puts helpful notes in your essays so that you want repeat the same mistakes again. In case you have a doubt about your writting or your research paper she will help you after class and give you some pointers.

knows how to give clear and good feedback. very easy, we basically wrote one whole 5para. research essay with clear instructions throughout the whole semester and submitted one portion every few weeks. her quizzes are very easy, i never read a single essay from the book and still passed 9 of all 10 quizzes. i would not recommend this teacher to anyone. Let me explain to you exactly what you will do in her class. Take quizzes every week on pointless readings and do a few essays every now and then for a major grade. i can say i have learned a few stuff in there but was it worth it? no. She gets off topic SO MUCH its annoying. she never stops talking.

Shes a very tough grader, she makes you go to class and she makes you STAY in class even if theres nothing to do, she trys really hard to make the class last and its not very necessary. She makes you do a lot of homework that makes you have a lot of papers to print out. She always tells you to see a tutor. But I guess shes alright.

She's an amazing professor whose teaching methods are old school but she is still very helpful. As far as difficulty, I would have to say it's completely up to you as the student. Personally, I found her class in-between but once you get on track on what she expects it becomes easier. Her class consists of mostly reading, quizzes and essays.
