Comment:

Godwin is really lazy and sits in the front and never helps you during labs and student only asks the lab tech questions. When you ask him a question he makes you feel stupid so don't bother asking him questions. Then during labs if by mistake you do something wrong he makes fun of you in the front of whole class so i would suggest not taking him.

Comment:

Would not recommend this professor. Intimidates students the first week of class scaring them off that Ochem will be hard. Doesn't encourage them, makes it seem even more daunting and not a very organized, clear prof. Sets them up for failure by constantly mentioning how hard Ochem is and this is one of the main reasons why he fails as a prof.

Worst prof at UFV, handsdown. There's a reason his section is the only one with space available. Take an extra semester to avoid him, your GPA will thank you. I ended up doing ochem at SFU and had a much better experience.

Godwin is a funny guy but I never really learned anything even though I went to all his lectures. I suggest learning the material by yourself because that's how I managed to pass this course. He's not a bad guy but I don't think he can teach the material well. Midterms were hard but final exams were fair (boosted my mark up)

Reading the textbook is three times as productive than actually attending his lectures. They're practically useless, and the concepts he teaches are so basic that they barely apply to his stupendously difficult midterms. He's not a bad guy, just a horrendous teacher. You'll struggle in this course, even as an exceptional student in chemistry.

Godwin really does not seem to care about his students and their success, other than by constantly berating them for not studying enough and having expectations that are much too high. Like seriously, such low midterm averages should maybe tell you that something is wrong with your teaching style! Expect to have to work hard for a half decent mark!

Godwin is excellent because he really prepares you for higher level university courses and forces you to think outside the box and practically. Whenever you need help, (which you will because it is OChem!) showing up to his office hours is the best thing because he helps you very well and clarifies concepts! Definitely take him, he's awesome!

Hilarious prof!! If you go into his class/lab with a negative attitude towards him from reviews, you're going to find reasons to not like him. Had him for lab only in chem214. I asked him lecture questions often and he was very helpful/willing to share his knowledge. This class does take effort so it is in your best interest to seek help from him.

Godwin is definitely the worst prof I have ever had. The main reason that I disliked him so much is that he was entirely unapproachable and rude to anyone who asked him questions or didn't get the material instantly. If students asked questions, he refused to answer them. Constantly called students dumb, laughed at them, etc. Avoid!

Can't help but smirk at the other posts here. Frustrated? Understandable. Godwins fault? No. The ones who fail his class are those who fail to read material before class, expect to have easy grades handed out and not think critically. He is incredibly smart and does not like to spoon feed lazy students. He is always willing to help if you ask.

Worst prof I've ever had! Teaching involves him summarizing the textbook, and he is difficult to understand. Super unfair, he doesn't even give partial marks on his tests. Our notes didn't even get posted half the time, and he's really unclear about when quizzes are and what he expects you to do for class

Are your seriously considering taking his class? i will give you some advice, rearrange your schedule so you can take Chem 113 with another instructor or take it in a semester where you have a light load. Drop electives just to put the extra time I needed for this class. Save your GPA and run away. Class average 49% midterm doesn't that tell you?

Godwin is a nice funny guy, but that's about all there is to him. His tests are ridiculously tough: class average for the midterm was 41%. I'm a straight A student and am fortunate enough not to be flunking his class. Avoid!!

Hard to understand and his tests are ridiculous. The class average was 41% and 49% for the midterms. Will ask you questions that are impossible to know. I dont think Godwin himself could get a good grade in this class.
