She has so much passion for what she's teaching, and gives really great feedback on every draft. For the final, we had an open mic reading and it was interesting to see people bring their best writing.

There will be a lot of reading and writing. She is fantastic, passionate, and cares very much about you and your work. I had a great time in the class and definitely recommend her if you're serious about writing!!

I LOVE DAVI! She is such an amazing professor. We went over Fiction, Poetry, and Plays. There is homework, but it's fun to do and not difficult. She is very inspirational and has made me strive to be the best writer I can be. Take this class you won't regret it!

Comment:

Loved taking Davi's class. Spent most time on Fiction and Poetry. Light reading, logs, and creative responses you are suppose to do. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Basically do the work, put forth the effort to write. If you hate writing, don't take this class. But is you do, please take the class. You won't regret it. Super sweet!

Class is divided into Fiction, Poetry, and Drama. We spend the most time on Fiction and Poetry. There is some reading and homework but it's easy. 100% recommended. She is really kind and wants the best for you. My favorite teacher I've had at OCC so far.

I loved her. She's so sweet and down to earth. You can tell she lived a cool life and that she's an awesome writer. She's very passionate about what she does. No mid term. No final. The class is broken down into Poetry/Fiction/ Drama. About 5 weeks on each topic. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I highly recommend the class.

THERE IS A GOOD AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK IN THIS CLASS. IF YOU HAVE A HARD TIME MANAGING YOUR SCHEDULE PROBABLY DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. BROKEN INTO THREE SECTIONS, POETRY, DRAMA, AND FICTION. GIVES YOU GOOD TECHNIQUES TO WORK WITH AND THAT IS NICE BUT SHE KIND OF JERKS YOU AROUND, PRETTY HARD TO KEEP UP WITH WHAT SHE WANTS. VERY OPINIONATED I MUST AGREE.

Some people might be sensitive to criticism, but if you really want to learn, her critiques are immensely beneficial for writers. She makes you think, and the exercises were really helpful as well. Overall she's one of my favorite teachers at OCC. She might be leaving though to solely work on writing. Take her if u have the chance. She's awesome.

She loves literature but she does not love teaching. Perhaps the most noncreative-creative writing teacher around. Very opinionated, very particular. I will say she shows a good number of writing exercises that are useful. By the end she just totally turned me off to writing, take a different teacher if opportunity presents itself.

Good teacher. Very strict. As long as you work hard, you get what you deserve. Didn't like her at the beginning, but feel thankful for her at the end of the semester. She forces me to work really hard on the subject I don't like.

Davi is one of the best teachers I've ever had (period). I still use the writing exercises that she used in class. I would like to stress: this class is for you if you are already a dedicated student used to rigor. She exploits this feature in students and helps them turn it into creativity and emotion. If this is you, take her class.

Comment:

After years of analytical essays on books like, "Jane Eyre" I wanted to try creative writing again and Professor Loren is a really great instructor for that. If you're really creative this would be a good class for you. Her critique may sound harsh but she's really just trying to get you to become a better writer. She's always helpful too!

Davi is such a sweetheart. She really cares about her students and helps a lot if you're trying to improve your writing. You have to write a piece very often but she provides genuine feedback. She's really funny too because she's older but she's very crass

This is not a class that requires little effort but she is by far the best english teacher I have ever had. She teaches you practical and useful writing techniques. She is also very helpful if you need her to be. I recommend taking this class if you are prepared to do the work and take the time to make it great.

A very nice lady who offers extra credit through writing workshops and extra credit quizzes. She is a hard essay grader but she means well and it will help you in the long run. Make sure you read for the quizzes or you will fail

Davi is an awesome teacher! I really loved her class and she has certainly helped me become a better writer. If you need help with an essay she is easy to approach, and will stay after class for as long as it takes to help you gather your ideas. Hw isn't too bad. A lot of group work which I didn't mind (I usually dread it).Definitely recommend!

Davi is super nice and gives a lot of people grades they don't deserve. I think she's too kind hearted to give people low grades. If you are actually into writing, make sure to talk to her a lot one on one. The class is easy, but it's a lot of peer grading and sometimes the students in your class are terrible writers and don't know anything. Easy A

I loved Davi, she's incredibly patient, responsive, and she really cares about her students. Her english class involves a lot of extra/tedious activities but I still enjoyed coming to her class. When you sign up for english 100, i highly recommend davi!
