Comment:
Dr. Kinloch, overall, is a good professor. He doesn't use blackboard, though, which is frustrating because you're never really sure of your grade in the class. The tests are a bit tricky, some of the questions appear similar but aren't. The 3 written assignments are graded harshly. If you put in the work, you can probably get an A or B.

He doesn't use blackboard or powerpoint and never will. He is a really good teacher, you just have to be willing to adjust to his very old school teaching style. He writes notes on the board during lecture. They can be hard to read. Come to class, pay attention, and take notes. Oh, and the answer is C.

I took him during the summer which meant a fast paced. Your grade is composed of 3 tests & 3 written assignments. All test are worth 50 pts he grades on a curve. Read the chapters look over class lectures tests are very confusing. He's a funny man so lectured arent boring. Ask questions

He has messy handwriting, but he will always clarify things. He is the cutest old man and cracks jokes occasionally. Definitely not a hard class if you have all of the notes. Barely looked at the book and I got an A. Doesn't use blackboard or powerpoint, but it really isn't that big of a deal.

He doesn't use technology and attendance isn't mandatory but the notes you take in class are exactly the tests. You'll fail if you don't go. There's three tests that make up your entire grade. GO TO CLASS. He has messy handwriting and you need to learn to take notes so you understand them lol. Tough class but passable.

His lack of technology use is kind of refreshing, but this means you need to go to every class. He's really knowledgeable and always happy to help interested students. People who don't like him probably don't really understand sociology, which this class requires (as it should). Go to class & study his lecture notes and you'll do well.

Funny man! We have three 50 point tests that make up our grade. This scared me at first but he gives comprehensive reviews of the lecture and textbook material - so the tests are easily passable. Don't look at the bad reviews, they are from the people that showed up 30min late to class and then failed the test b/c they missed half of the material.

Honestly. Do not take his class. I got a C+ and i'm an A student. This class lowered my GPA a lot and I am not satisfied with his teaching styles and tests.

Dr. Kinloch is a treasure to the faculty of FSU. He is a very interesting lecturer and a kind man. People who are intimidated or frustrated with his lecturing style should approach him for help. He is a forgiving grader, utilizing curves. Tests can be interesting the first time you have one from him, but you get used to them.

almost impossible to actually learn anything. all i did was guess on the tests. tests are all multiple choice and it could be any of the answers. not what i expected at all from a sociology 1000 level class

I took the Sociological Theory class from Dr. Kinloch some time ago. I always found his class to be very interesting and entertaining (he has a very dry sense of humor, which I can appreciate). He certainly knows his field well. His thoughtful, positive comments on a term paper were what helped me decide to go to graduate school.

Professor Kinloch is VERY old fashioned. Doesn't use any form of technology, prints grades out on a sheet of paper. He does however curve all the tests.. He is old, but he's still got his teaching ability. Cracks jokes all the time. Tests require a full understanding of the information and require some critical thinking. Not too hard though

He is a hard and demanding teacher and expects a lot out of his students. He is a fair teacher though and will give good grades to the students that put in the time and effort & at least try. He definitely helped me become a better and more disciplined student. I definitely recommend him if you want to learn something and become a better student.

I thought that he was a great professor overall! He is quite intellectual and I learned a lot more about sociology than I ever did before. It just takes some time to get used to the way he does things, his teaching style and the way he deals with students. Just stick through it and work hard and you will do fine in his courses.

He's a great teacher, I learned so much from him! Just get on his good side by showing him that you are interested in the course, go to class, turn in all the work and study! He tends to cater more to students that do the things that I just mentioned! If not then he will act as if you are not even there. Be prepared at all times & you will do fine.

When it came to Mr Kinloch, it was always "his way or the highway". He didn?t really care what I had to say or my opinion on a subject matter. He always laid his foot down and didn?t let me have much say on anything. He was definitely a smart guy when it came to Sociology, but he always thought he was correct and that everyone else is wrong.

I also don't know what people are talking about when they say he has a temper. He was always very nice and constantly cracking jokes in my class. I thought the class was really easy, all you have to do is listen and take a few notes and read the chapter, but focus on the things he mentions in class.

Professor Kinloch is an excellent teacher that can answer any questions that were ever asked about Sociology, unlike most teachers that tell you to look in the book, cause they dont really know. The man is very smart. Sure it is difficult to read his writing, but just ask and he will go over it again. I would love to this class over again with him.

TERRIBLE CLASS! he didn't have any "temper" issues that people have mentioned, however, his time to teach seems to have long past him. He knows the material very well, but does not convey it to the class very well. His handwriting is IMPOSSIBLE to read and he does not use BB or powerpoints. I wish I could have taken this class with another teacher!
