Both courses were mathy and a little abstract but his tests are fair, he tries to teach material that isn't in the textbook and he seems to always be happy to help. Great prof.

This prof has no organization nor passion. He has no lecture notes that aid student to understand the materials. He scribbles on the board and go on and on about a bunch of symbols and tell you this is the reality of life. He will make you wanna murder yourself

I agree with the person below him. He tried to intimidate you with all the math symbols but it is easier than what it seems. He is very helpful in his office hours and really nice when you are a hard working student.

he's a really good prof i really enjoyed having him. if you do not know a lot about math and stats you might find his courses hard at the beginning but then you get used to him. he makes everything he does in class seem like its impossible to do it on your own, but its way easier than what everybody thinks

Comment:
I think that ECO206 with Gagnon was fairly easy, considering he reuses many questions from past tests (which are all posted on ERES), so none of the midterms were surprising in anyway. I recommend learning to take notes as opposed to blindly copying down what is written the board. Class material is more relevant than the text.

Comment:
Do not take any courses with this Professor. He is one of the most vicious and tormented souls, who has no life and takes refuge in slowly torturing his students. The challenges you will face in his class are unfair because the instruction is much worse than Professors, who give harder exams. So, Gagnon is a deadly Professor. Watch out!

Took 3 courses w/ him, 208/328/325, I got A in all 3, so you can trust me. He try to make the lecture incomprehensible and make you think it's too hard, but it's good, bad students fail terribly (drop class avg). His stuff might look confusing but it's really(!) easy if you actually try a bit. Proofs are shown in class, but not required to get 85+.

This guy doesn't use a website, doesn't have slides, teaches directly off the blackboard with his chicken scratch freehand, and doesn't even have the decency to stand up when he's talking. I'm serious. This guy sits down while he lectures. If you don't sit in the first three rows, you cannot see him.

I appreciate him a LOT right now, when I'm taking all these 300-level ECO courses. He is great and probably the most knowledgeable and intellingent prof in the Economics Department

Comment:
He is knowledgeable and theoretical. It is not easy to follow him all the time, not because of his clarity, but for the nature of the materials. One needs maths and stats thinking to understand some concepts in the models. He doesn't seem approachable when one first meets him, but in fact he is a very nice person. You will learn some serious econs.

Lots of people hate this guy, but I found him the best on the 200 level. Extremely knowledgeable and intelligent, no surprises on tests. Sometimes he goes a bit too fast and all of a sudden gives all those math theories, but at least you learn something from his classes.

His notes and graphs are extremely messy, not to mention that he doesn't put down much of what he says on the board....it's often hard to follow his verbal explainations.

Look at past paper before you write your midterms. Lots of the questions are from past papers! Beside the fact that he's very boring and yawn every 5s, he's a very good prof
