She's good, but if you want an A, you have to know everything very well. She will not spoon-feed you and will expect that you kow the stuff almost as well as she does. If you haven't had high school chem and if you don't have a good command of math, this will be a hard class for you. But, do all HW problems and attend class. Easy B or C.

Her exams are nothing like the practice given, and class averages were always in the low 60's

I was in the first class that used the POGIL system, which is basically group work. I learned the material through my TA, who seemed to have worked a lot harder than the professor. If you keep up on the readings and utilize the practice test, you will be fine. Go to the office hours regularly, Dr. S will be happy to help.

Very nice, willing to help if you have questions. Sometimes a bit confusing. Tests generally followed assigned problems, but expect the occasional oddball question.

She's not a great educator. She knows how to teach in an acceptable way and is by no means bad, but you are on your own as far as learning. She will expect you to know the stuff at a high level and will not tell you how to get there or learn it - and she will test you at that very high level. A very easy 'C'; a very difficult 'A'. Study very hard.

I took her class quite awhile ago. 3 exams & 2 quizzes were your whole grade. The only people who can do well in her class are those who have very strong HS chemistry and math background. She never posted examples of old exams so we never knew what would be on them; it was usually way harder than the homework problems..be sure you do all book probs

Great professor. She is very fair with grades and curves when necessary. She is approachable outside of class and a great person to go to for help. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn and appreciates a challenge! By far my favorite college professor.

Wonderful chemistry professor. Course content was a little review-y from high school, but it is beginning level chemistry. She's very clear and good with questions, and very fair on tests and exams.

Attending classes and doing all the required homework is NOT enough to get a good grade in this class. Her exams are tough and very difficult to finish on time. This class is hard, she doesn't curve, and she is perfectly fine (if not happy) with a 60% class average on all tests. Wouldn't recommend unless you have a strong chemistry background.

This woman is heartless when it comes to grades. If your final grade is an 89.99999%, she will make it a B. If your grade is a 93%, it's still a B. She might be approachable outside of class, but only ask her about content. Asking her about grades will make her knock you 2% at the end of the term. Show ALL your work on her tests or you'll be docked

Dr. S is a great lecturer! Lectures are clear and interactive. She somehow manages to give the class the resources needed to well despite the fact that there are 300 students. She is also very encouraging and helpful if you visit her during office hours. Tests are tricky, but if you practice the problems, getting an A is very do-able.

This class is incredibly hard, but you can tell she really tries to make it somewhat doable. We do worksheets in class which help break up the lecture. The homework is hard but not impossible. Tests are VERY hard and overall curve not that cushy (compared to CH 440). Good teacher, and she really cares and tries. I like her overall.

One of the best professors I have ever had! She explains things simply and doesn't babble, she covers whats important and highlights it for you. Her tests are fair though some students found them challenging. She is extremely helpful if you ever have to talk 1 on 1, she is great at explaining whats going on. If I could take her again I would!

Dr. S was great she piqued my interest in a subject I wasn't all excited about. She ensures the class understands the material and goes above and beyond the call of duty as a lecturer. She actually had me wanting to take more than the two Chem classes required for my major.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Really takes an interest in non-traditional modes of teaching (online assignments, etc.). Difficult coursework but fair. If you go to class and do the assignments you'll pass. If you get an A you really earned it. Her tests are pretty rough

I took her for CH221 and 222 last year, and was generally satisfied with the class. I recommend taking a math class concurrently, as the majority of her test questions require a lot of math. If your math is in good shape, you shouldn't have too much trouble because you can bring a lot of notes to the midterms and the final.

Everything is very black and white with Shusterman's classes. If you understand the stuff, you'll get an A. If no, you'll get a C or less. There's no way to predict what kinds of questions she'll ask on the tests so be prepared for literally anything. Know the book, know how to do ALL the problems. If chem isn't really "your sugject", good luck.

The best teacher I have ever taken. 110% on first midterm! She is super clear, and her tests emphasize using concepts to solve problems. Highly recommended!
